Job description
The Hanover College Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program invites applications for a full-time Core Faculty member with expertise in neurologic physical therapy to join an innovative, collaborative, and integrated academic community. This 12-month faculty position offers an exciting opportunity to provide curricular leadership in neurologic rehabilitation education within a program that combines the flexibility of online learning with the hands-on engagement of immersive laboratory experiences. The successful candidate will serve as a primary content expert for adult neurologic rehabilitation and contribute to foundational and applied neuroscience content across the curriculum, with teaching responsibilities that may include motor control and motor learning, stroke, spinal cord injury, Parkinson disease, vestibular rehabilitation, clinical reasoning, and evidence-based practice.
Working within Hanover College's hybrid educational model, the faculty member will engage students through asynchronous learning, synchronous instruction, simulation, and in-person laboratory immersion experiences designed to advance clinical reasoning, professional formation, and evidence-based patient management. The faculty member will also contribute to instruction across acute care, subacute rehabilitation, and lifespan patient management, helping students understand neurologic conditions across the continuum of care-from acute hospitalization through post-acute rehabilitation, community reintegration, and long-term management.
The faculty member will teach within a collaborative, integrated Doctor of Physical Therapy curriculum and work closely with colleagues to ensure the vertical and horizontal integration of neuroscience and neurologic rehabilitation concepts throughout the program. Collaborative expectations include coordination with continuum of care faculty to integrate aging-related neurologic conditions; shared teaching in acute care, rehabilitation, and interprofessional education; participation in laboratory instruction and clinical education; and development of simulation and clinical learning experiences spanning acute hospitalization through post-acute rehabilitation. The successful candidate will collaborate with faculty to promote interprofessional education and innovative teaching, maintain an active scholarly agenda consistent with the College's mission, contribute to student success, program assessment, accreditation, service, and continuous quality improvement initiatives, and engage with regional clinical partners to support student learning and clinical excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as lead faculty for neurologic rehabilitation coursework within the DPT curriculum.
- Provide significant instructional contributions to neuroscience coursework and support integration of foundational neuroscience concepts across the curriculum.
- Develop, deliver, assess, and continuously improve courses, laboratory experiences, simulations, and assessments.
- Coordinate vertical and horizontal integration of neuroscience, motor control, motor learning, neurologic examination, and neurologic rehabilitation content.
- Support Hanover College's innovative hybrid educational model through excellence in online instruction, synchronous engagement, and immersive laboratory experiences.
- Serve as academic advisor, mentor, and coach to support student learning, professional development, and success.
- Collaborate with faculty to evaluate program outcomes and utilize assessment data to improve curriculum quality and student achievement.
- Participate in CAPTE accreditation activities, program assessment initiatives, and continuous quality improvement processes.
- Maintain an active scholarly agenda consistent with faculty rank and institutional expectations.
- Participate in program, college, professional, and community service activities.
- Contribute to admissions, recruitment, orientation, and student success initiatives.
- Travel to onsite laboratory immersions and participate in program-related activities.
- Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT/tDPT) or earned terminal academic doctorate in a discipline appropriate for teaching responsibilities
- Current ABPTS Neurologic Clinical Specialist (NCS) certification (required)
- Minimum of three years of contemporary neurologic physical therapy clinical practice experience
- Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching, student success, and inclusive educational practices
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders
- Licensed or eligible for physical therapist licensure in Indiana
- Academic doctorate (PhD, EdD, DHSc, DSc, or equivalent)
- Experience teaching within a CAPTE-accredited physical therapist education program
- Experience with hybrid, online, or accelerated educational models
- Experience with curriculum development, program assessment, and accreditation activities
- Evidence of scholarly productivity related to neurologic rehabilitation, neuroscience, healthcare education, or related areas
- Experience with simulation-based education, interprofessional education, shared teaching responsibilities, clinical education, or integrated case-based instruction
Interested candidates should submit a cover letter describing their teaching philosophy and commitment to student success, curriculum vitae, transcripts, and contact information for three professional references.
