Job description

We are seeking a patient, structured, and compassionate tutor to work 1:1 with an adult student with autism. This role focuses on building foundational academic skills, functional learning, and real-world independence.
The ideal candidate has experience working with neurodivergent adults and can provide clear, structured instruction tailored to individual learning needs.
This is a highly impactful role supporting both academic growth and independent living skills.
Responsibilities
  • Provide individualized instruction in reading, writing, and math
  • Support reading fluency, comprehension, and retention strategies
  • Teach functional and applied math (time, money, real-world problem solving)
  • Develop foundational literacy and writing skills when needed
  • Support DMV written test preparation
  • Build functional academic and life skills for independence
  • Incorporate Social/Emotional Learning (SEL) into instruction
  • Help apply learning to real-life tasks (recipes, workplace expectations, daily living)
  • Use structured, repetitive, and step-by-step teaching methods
  • Track progress and reinforce learning consistently
Student Overview
The student is an adult learner with autism who benefits from structured, patient instruction and consistent reinforcement.
