Responsibilities:

The Clinical Trainee is responsible for implementing direct care to the clients in the program while under the clinical supervision of a Treatment Supervisor. Under the treatment supervision of a mental health professional may provide a client with psychotherapy, client education, rehabilitative mental health services, diagnostic assessments, functional assessments, level of care assessments, and treatment plans.

  • To supervise and be actively involved with clients at all appropriate times, stimulating positive social interaction.
  • Act as an appropriate role model for clients.
  • Plan and be actively involved in all recreational and programmatic aspects of scheduled shift.
  • Provide appropriate supervision, assistance and training in meeting clients? physical and emotional needs such as nutrition, grooming, socialization, family involvement, etc.
  • Under the supervision of a mental health professional, implement programming and clinical services to recipients of the program and complete all related documentation.
    • Complete a Vulnerable Adult Assessment and Assessment of Immediate Needs upon client admission.
    • Complete Functional Assessments and Level of Care Assessments.
    • Complete Diagnostic Assessments under the supervision of a Treament Supervisor/Mental Health Professional.
    • Provide psychotherapy as indicated per client?s Individual Treatment Plan.
    • Complete Individual Treatment Plans.
    • Participate in weekly treatment plan reviews.
    • Completely and accurately document work with client during their program.
    • Complete client Discharge Summary and Crisis Plans prior to discharge.
    • Supervise and assist clients in achieving treatment goals through individual and group activities.
    • Complete all programming documentation for clients including goals and objectives documentation.
    • Complete daily logs, accident/incident reports, fire drills, etc.
  • To provide supervision, assistance, and training to clients in meeting their medical and healthcare needs.
  • Adhere to all applicable rules as laws of their respective licensing agency.
  • Follow Treatment Supervision Plan and participate in regular supervision as required.
  • Present the program and organization to the public in a positive and supportive manner.

Qualifications:

A "Clinical Trainee" means a staff person providing services to persons with mental illness who is qualified in at least one of the following ways:

  • is enrolled in an accredited graduate program of study to prepare the staff person for independent licensure as a mental health professional and who is participating in a practicum or internship with the license holder through the individual's graduate program; or
  • has completed an accredited graduate program of study to prepare the staff person for independent licensure as a mental health professional and who is in compliance with the requirements of the applicable health-related licensing board, including requirements for supervised practice.
