Network Engineer (Journeyman) - DoD NOC | Wichita, KS
Location: Wichita, KS (100% Onsite - McConnell AFB)
Clearance: Active or Interim Secret (required)
Salary: ~$85,000 - $95,000 + $3,000 relocation assistance
Employment Type: Full-Time (Direct Hire, W-2)
Start Date: Mid-June 2026
Overview
We are hiring 2 Network Engineers (Journeyman level) to support a U.S. Air Force / Air National Guard Network Operations Center (NOC) at McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita, KS.
This role supports a Base Area Network (BAN) modernization program, providing Tier 2/3 network operations and troubleshooting across multiple Air National Guard installations.
This is an excellent opportunity for early-career to mid-level engineers looking to grow within a mission-critical DoD network environment.
What You'll Do
  • Provide Tier 2 / Tier 3 network support in a NOC environment
  • Troubleshoot routing and switching issues (Cisco-based)
  • Monitor network health using tools like SolarWinds / NMS platforms
  • Support incident response, ticket resolution, and change management
  • Assist with:
    • VLANs, trunking, and switching issues
    • Routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, basic BGP exposure)
    • Firewall changes and log analysis (ASA/Firepower)
  • Maintain network configurations and documentation
  • Support STIG compliance and remediation efforts
  • Participate in on-call rotation (24/7 support model)

Required Qualifications
  • Active or Interim DoD Secret clearance (must be in-scope)
  • 3-7 years of network engineering or network operations experience
  • Experience with:
    • Cisco routers and switches
    • LAN/WAN environments
    • Ticketing systems (ServiceNow, Jira, etc.)
  • One of the following (required):
    • CompTIA Security+ CE (or equivalent IAT-II certification)
    • OR willingness to obtain Security+ prior to start
  • One of the following (required):
    • CCNA
    • CompTIA Network+
  • U.S. Citizenship required

Preferred (Nice to Have)
  • Experience in DoD or federal environments (USAF, ANG, DHA, Army, etc.)
  • Familiarity with:
    • NIPR/SIPR networks
    • STIG / ACAS environments
    • Basic firewall operations
  • Exposure to NOC operations or monitoring tools
