Overview
Admixture/Pharmacy Technician
The Willamette Valley Cancer Institute and Research Center is looking for a Admixture/Pharmacy Technician to join our phenomenal team. The pharmaceutical treatment of cancer is specialized and ever-changing field. The team at WVCI is looking for a tech to help prepare, maintain, and deliver medications for our amazing patients. Our pharmacy department has both retail and admixture departments that support our patients' treatment journey. This also would allow technicians with strong retail experience to build on their skills, and work towards the higher levels of the pharmacy technician scope. This role will also support and adhere to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.
The general pay scale for this position at WVCI is $19.00 - $46.80. The actual hiring rate is dependent on many factors, including but not limited to: prior work experience, education, job/position responsibilities, location, work performance, internal equity, etc.
Employment Type: 1.0 FTE Full-time
Schedule: Varied. Shifts may start at 4:00 am

Location: Springfield, OR. Training in Albany, OR for 4-6 weeks
Responsibilities
  • Assists with the preparation of medication orders by compounding or admixing medications.
  • Checks all orders for completeness of information. Verifies patient information and proper physician authorization.
  • Admixes drugs as ordered by physician in an accurate and timely manner as per department guidelines and preparing all drugs within OSHA guidelines and interoffice guidelines.
  • Calculates correct dosage volumes, converting between metric and apothecary equivalents.
  • Properly disposes all materials used when mixing chemo or non-chemo IVs. Assists in cleaning hoods daily checking drugs monthly for outdates and other quality assurance activities as assigned.
  • Assists in keeping accurate temperature logs, accurate logs on all protocol drugs and patient assistance drugs.
  • Maintains proper control documentation of medications including lot numbers. Provide support with inventory control of medications. Prepares labels. Files and prepares billing. Basic data entry into department automation.

Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent education
  • 1 - 3 years of experience in a pharmacy
  • Pharmacy Tech Certificate Required
