SENIOR NETWORK ENGINEER (Network Operations & Infrastructure)

 

Shape the Backbone of a High-Performance Network

A growing Nashville-based company is seeking a Senior Network Admin/Engineer to join its IT team. This individual will report directly to the Network Manager and play a critical role in supporting and optimizing a high-performance, enterprise-scale network environment.

This is a hands-on, senior-level role focused on network operations, advanced troubleshooting, and infrastructure reliability across a complex, multi-technology environment.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

As a key member of our Network Services team, youโ€™ll:

  • Own the lifecycle management of enterprise network infrastructure, including data connectivity, load balancing, internet services, and network security platforms
  • Provide expert-level troubleshooting and support across:
  • Cisco routing/switching (routers, switches, wireless controllers)
  • Enterprise VoIP / collaboration platforms (Webex)
  • SmartOptics WAN connectivity
  • F5 LTM load balancers
  • Palo Alto firewalls
  • Monitor and optimize network performance using tools such as SolarWinds, proactively identifying issues and capacity constraints
  • Diagnose and resolve complex network issues involving routing (BGP, OSPF), QoS, traffic flow, and security policies
  • Partner with internal teams and vendors to ensure high availability and operational efficiency across the network
  • Manage vendor relationships and service contracts, including working with Cisco SMARTnet for support and compliance
  • Support a 24x7 production environment, including participation in after-hours or weekend work as needed
  • Perform hands-on infrastructure work, including rack/stack and hardware deployments when required

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

 

  • 8+ years of experience in IT enterprise network engineering or network operations
  • 4+ years working with enterprise networking technologies (Cisco routing/switching, Palo Alto firewalls, WLCs, VoIP, and load balancing F5 LTM)
  • Strong experience with Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) and Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) in complex environments
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve high-impact network issues in production environments
  • Experience with network monitoring and performance management tools (SolarWinds preferred)
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams
  • Network+ certification required
  • CCNA (or higher) preferred
  • Experience with automation or scripting is a plus
