Job Description : Project Manager - Network Security & VoIP (Palo Alto / Cisco)
Location : San Diego, CA
Duration : Long Term
Role Overview:
  • The Project Manager - Network Security & VoIP is responsible for end-to-end delivery of network security and unified communication initiatives, with a strong focus on Palo Alto security platforms, Cisco enterprise networks, and VoIP solutions.
  • This role ensures successful planning, execution, governance, and stakeholder alignment for projects involving firewalls, network infrastructure, and enterprise voice systems, while maintaining high standards for security, performance, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Project Delivery & Program Management
  • Lead end-to-end project execution across network security and VoIP initiatives
  • Manage scope, timelines, budgets, risks, and dependencies
  • Drive project planning, scheduling, and resource allocation
  • Ensure delivery meets SLA, quality, and business expectations

2. Network Security Project Oversight (Palo Alto - Primary)
  • Manage delivery of Palo Alto NGFW and Panorama projects, including:
    • Firewall deployments, migrations, and upgrades
    • Security policy implementation and standardization
    • VPN (GlobalProtect, site-to-site) rollouts
  • Ensure alignment with enterprise security frameworks (NIST, CIS)
  • Drive secure architecture adoption in collaboration with architects and engineers

3. Network Infrastructure & Integration (Cisco, Meraki, DNA)
  • Oversee projects involving:
    • Cisco routing & switching (core, distribution, access)
    • Campus and wireless deployments (Cisco Meraki, Cisco DNA Center)
  • Ensure seamless integration between network and security layers
  • Support initiatives around segmentation, resiliency, and performance optimization

4. VoIP & Unified Communications
  • Lead delivery of VoIP / Unified Communications projects, including:
    • Cisco CUCM, Unity, UCCX / Contact Center solutions
    • SIP, PRI, and VoIP gateway integrations
  • Ensure QoS implementation for:
    • Voice/video prioritization
    • Latency and jitter optimization
  • Manage migrations:
    • Legacy telephony → VoIP
    • On-prem → Cloud (Teams, Webex, Zoom, UCaaS)

5. Governance, Risk & Compliance
  • Ensure adherence to:
    • Security standards and compliance requirements
    • Internal governance and audit processes
  • Maintain:
    • HLDs, LLDs, project documentation, runbooks
    • Risk registers and mitigation plans

6. Stakeholder & Vendor Management
  • Act as key liaison between:
    • Business stakeholders, technical teams, and vendors
  • Provide:
    • Executive-level updates
    • Risk visibility and escalation handling
  • Manage third-party vendors and delivery partners

7. Leadership & Team Coordination
  • Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams including:
    • Network engineers
    • Security teams
    • VoIP specialists
  • Provide direction, prioritization, and delivery governance
  • Ensure alignment between technical execution and business goals

Required Skills & Experience
Must Have
  • 10-15+ years in network/security delivery or program/project management
  • Proven experience managing and leading technical teams, including onshore/offshore coordination, planning, and execution
  • Strong experience managing projects involving:
    • Palo Alto NGFW & Panorama
    • Enterprise network infrastructure (Cisco routing/switching)
    • VoIP / Unified Communications (CUCM, SIP, Contact Center)
  • Strong experience in vulnerability management, including:
    • Identifying, assessing, and prioritizing vulnerabilities
    • Driving remediation with security and infrastructure teams
    • Working with tools like Qualys, Nessus, or similar
  • Proven ability to deliver large-scale enterprise or multi-location projects
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication, and governance experience

Technical Understanding (Important):
  • Palo Alto: NGFW, Panorama, VPNs, threat prevention
  • Networking: Cisco switching, routing, Meraki, DNAC
  • VoIP: CUCM, SIP, call flows, voice gateways, QoS
  • Cloud (preferred): AWS / Azure networking and security

Preferred / Nice to Have
  • Exposure to:
    • Zero Trust, SASE, Prisma Access
    • Infoblox (DNS/DHCP/IPAM)
    • SD-WAN solutions
  • Experience in:
    • Regulated / government / large enterprise environments

Certifications (Preferred)
  • PMP / Prince2 (Project Management)
  • PCNSE (Palo Alto Networks)
  • CCNP / CCIE (Enterprise / Security / Collaboration)
  • ITIL Foundation
  • CISSP
