Dematic has an immediate need for a Network Engineer in our Global Project Engineering standards group. Preferred candidates will have a minimum of 5 years of experience with designing networks. They will have experience working in the material handling industry and with industrial automation to assist in the development and maintenance of network standards and to provide technical assistance and direction to project teams in their design of large data communications networks. This individual will also be responsible for the configuration and installation requirements of LANs/WANs using switching, routing, and monitoring technologies.We offer:

The base pay range for this role is estimated to be $90,750 - $133,100 at the time of posting. Final compensation will be determined by various factors such as work location, education, experience, knowledge, and skills.

Tasks and Qualifications:

Network Engineer - Network Engineering Standards

The Network Engineer is a recognized leader in the field of OT Network systems for material handling. This role is responsible for developing and implementing innovative solutions, setting/standardizing technical direction for the company, and providing thought leadership and network design education both internally and externally.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Maintain North American Networking Standard Work.

  • Maintain Ethernet training program, including Hirschmann CT1, CT2, CP1, and CP2 classes.

  • Develop and maintain OT and fieldbus networking standards.

  • Lead cross-functional OT networking team to align Dematic groups.

  • Facilitate network technical reviews.

  • Provide network design assistance to project teams.

  • Provide network design reviews and validation.

  • Provide network troubleshooting assistance to project teams.

  • Conduit to Global Networking Architecture

  • Cyber Security responsibility.

Team Responsibilities:

Provide a high level of expertise to projects - Technical support, problem resolution, leadership, and technical integration
Technical training to team members within the project engineering teams
Provide expertise on system level drawings to ensure the engineering team is fulfilling all technical, Standard and regulatory requirements
Work cross-functionally across disciplines and functions/departments
Promote a culture of safety and compliance through open communication and empowerment
Identify opportunities and ideas to improve cost and efficiency.
Assess appropriate disciplines and skillsets of resources to successfully deliver engineering content and documentation
Travel up to 25% to project sites, customer meetings, support pre-sales activities, suppliers.

What We are Looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Network Engineering preferred)

  • 5+ years of successful experience as a Network Engineer or related field and successful demonstration of Key Responsibilities and Knowledge as presented above. Advanced degree MAY be substituted for experience, where applicable.

  • Experience with various industrial protocols including EIP, Modbus, CIP Safety, SafeLink, PROFINET, and PROFIsafe.

  • Experience designing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintaining Industrial and OT networks.

  • Proficient in advanced network design, including NAT, VLANs, Firewalls, subnetting, and routing.

  • Hirschmann Industrial System Network Engineer Certification or equivalent credentials.

  • TUV Rhineland Functional Safety of Machinery Engineer Certification or equivalent credentials.

  • Experience with both Allen-Bradley PLCs; Siemens TIA Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC).

  • Experience in Material Handling/automation industry is an asset

  • Experience in a Engineering position that is project-based is an asset
