Job description

Position Summary:
The Network Engineer III will provide expert-level support to the Industrial Control Systems (ICS) network at the Orlando Veterans Affairs Healthcare System (OVAHCS). This position requires a highly experienced and technically proficient individual who can design, implement, maintain, and troubleshoot secure LAN/WAN environments supporting critical healthcare operations and building management systems.
Location: Orlando VA Medical Center, 13800 Veterans Way, Orlando, FL 32827
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain the ICS air-gapped network and ensure full operational readiness.
  • Design and configure secure Local Area Network (LAN) and wireless network environments.
  • Implement IP schemes, DNS, WINS, VLANs, VRFs, VPNs, and inter-site routing for VA facilities.
  • Configure and maintain Cisco data center switches (6500/6509), Catalyst switches (4000/3000), and WLAN systems (5500 controllers, 3000 APs).
  • Provide subject matter expertise for CCTV, AMAG, JCI Metasys, and Access Control Systems.
  • Lead network integration for new facility build-outs or remote locations without redesign.
  • Support MACs (Moves/Adds/Changes) for ICN-related equipment and configurations.
  • Perform life cycle management for all network infrastructure assets.
  • Manage IP space related to ICN across OVAHCS locations.
  • Document Telecommunication Room configurations monthly.
  • Develop implementation and migration plans for network growth and transitions.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (preferred).
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years' experience in network infrastructure installation, configuration, and maintenance.
  • Certifications:
    • ISC2 Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
    • Cisco certifications (e.g., CCNP or higher preferred)
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in VRF-lite, DNS, HTTP, IP routing, 802.1X
    • VLAN management and troubleshooting
    • Cisco ACS, WLAN, and EtherChannel/Bonding
    • Troubleshooting IP telephony, network security systems, and remote access systems
