JOB DESCRIPTION - Network Infrastructure Consultant
Job Summary:
This position is responsible for ensuring the continuous availability, performance, and reliability of enterprise network services, including core connectivity, internet edge, remote access, cloud connectivity, and critical network platforms. The role provides incident response, operational support, maintenance, and lifecycle management while collaborating with engineering and architecture teams to implement network solutions, maintain security compliance, and minimize business disruption.
Responsibilities
  • Monitor, maintain, and support the health, availability, and reliability of the enterprise network environment from local sites through cloud connectivity.
  • Perform day-to-day operational support of LAN, WAN, wireless, SD-WAN, firewall, and cloud network services, ensuring stable and secure connectivity across the enterprise.
  • Proactively monitor network performance and stability, identify potential issues, and respond to alerts to prevent or minimize outages.
  • Serve as a primary responder for network incidents impacting multiple users or services(L2), providing troubleshooting, remediation, and coordination as needed.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to triage and support after-hours network incidents, maintenance, and emergency remediation activities.
  • Support enterprise network connectivity, including site-to-site tunnels, VPN solutions, and cloud service connections, ensuring reliable communication between locations and platforms.
  • Execute performance tuning, optimization, and troubleshooting across network-centric technologies to improve reliability and user experience.
  • Support operational vulnerability management for network infrastructure, including:
  • Applying patches and updates
  • Performing configuration changes and parameter tuning
  • Executing remediation activities in alignment with security and change management standards
  • Participate in planned upgrades and lifecycle maintenance of network infrastructure components, including switches, firewalls, SD-WAN platforms, and related services.
  • Collaborate with engineering and architecture teams by operationalizing designs, integrating new capabilities, and providing feedback based on operational experience.
  • Act as a first line of operational defense for network outages, escalating to engineering teams as appropriate for large-scale or complex issues.
  • Maintain awareness of network status, changes, and risks across the environment to support operational continuity and resilience.
  • Contribute to keeping the "lights on" by reliably handling routine maintenance and operational tasks, enabling senior engineers to focus on observability, automation, and platform improvements.

Qualifications
  • Familiarity with a Palo Alto iONS / SD-WAN environment.
