Network Operations Manager
Location: Tallahassee, FL

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Network Operations Manager to lead and support enterprise network, infrastructure, security, and IT operations across a statewide environment. This role will serve as a key technical leader and network architect, responsible for maintaining secure and highly available network infrastructure, establishing operational standards, managing network technologies, and ensuring IT strategy aligns with organizational objectives.
The ideal candidate will bring strong hands-on experience with network architecture, routers and switches, firewalls, VPN, VoIP, Active Directory, Windows environments, virtualization, network security, and enterprise infrastructure operations, along with the leadership skills to manage daily operations and mentor technical staff.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement standards, procedures, and operational processes for the Security and Network Operations group.
  • Manage and maintain consolidated statewide network operations and serve as the organization's network architect.
  • Maintain and support network infrastructure for the Daytona Beach campus.
  • Establish IT strategies aligned with business objectives and desired organizational outcomes.
  • Oversee daily network operations, infrastructure security, service levels, performance, availability, and reliability.
  • Configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and optimize enterprise network equipment, including:
    • Routers and switches
    • Firewalls
    • VPN technologies
    • VoIP systems
    • Wireless infrastructure
    • Data and voice networking equipment
  • Provide support for DTI routers and switches.
  • Monitor, administer, and troubleshoot Active Directory, DNS, Group Policy, NTFS permissions, and shared-folder permissions.
  • Provide Microsoft Teams and SharePoint administration and support.
  • Manage Windows server and workstation operating systems and associated applications.
  • Provide consultative technical support for local and remote servers.
  • Manage patch deployment and approved security solutions, including antivirus, malware, and spyware protection.
  • Manage and support virtualized infrastructure while ensuring business continuity and operational resilience.
  • Troubleshoot complex network, server, workstation, application, and connectivity issues.
  • Provide backup security help desk support and frontline technical support for the Daytona campus.
  • Support network printers, logon scripts, antivirus applications, and other network-related services.
  • Maintain security as a core consideration across all infrastructure and IT operations.
  • Plan and manage implementation of new technologies, including wireless solutions and network modernization initiatives.
  • Advise management on network architecture, infrastructure strategy, security, and technology best practices.
  • Mentor technical staff, share knowledge, and promote consistent operational practices.
  • Respond effectively to high-priority incidents and make sound technical decisions during emergency situations.
Required Qualifications
  • Strong experience managing enterprise network operations and IT infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated experience establishing IT strategy and aligning technology initiatives with business objectives.
  • Experience managing network operations, data security, network equipment, and secure application environments.
  • Strong knowledge of network architecture and enterprise infrastructure best practices.
  • Hands-on experience developing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing network hardware, software, and communication links.
  • Experience with routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, wireless networks, and VoIP.
  • Experience managing service levels for data and voice networking infrastructure and advanced phone systems.
  • Strong experience with:
    • Active Directory
    • DNS
    • Group Policy
    • Windows desktop operating systems
    • Windows server environments
  • Experience planning and implementing new network technologies with an emphasis on performance, availability, reliability, and security.
  • Experience coordinating daily activities across large-scale or statewide network environments.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware, software, server, and network issues.
  • Experience with ATM, Frame Relay, leased-line design, and router configuration.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Teams and SharePoint.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Word.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership, mentoring, time-management, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and execute critical tasks in high-pressure and emergency situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently learn and adopt new technologies with minimal guidance.
Education
Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline.
Relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of the degree.
