Job description

Summary:

The Manager, Network Systems and Architecture, serves as a hands-on technical expert and strategic leader responsible for designing scalable, secure, and efficient network solutions that support AAA’s larger technology strategy. This position leads the development and execution of the organization’s network technology strategy, ensuring compliance with security and governance standards and robust communications between AAA’s diverse technologies and partners. The manager drives operational excellence across network technology solutions, while providing technical guidance and ensuring seamless communication amongst users and stakeholders.
 
Duties & Responsibilities:
 
  • Designs, develops, and implements short- and long-term technology solutions contemplating all aspects of organizational network technology needs, including firewalls, routers, switches, virtual local area networks (VLANs), Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), and wireless network infrastructure.
  • Defines tactical and strategic architecture for networking solutions by investigating, analyzing, and documenting technology roadmaps, including solutions modernization and simplification leveraging new technologies to improve networking technologies.
  • Establishes and enforces best practices for network infrastructure, including deployment, maintenance, monitoring, and incident response. Ensures compliance with security standards and governance policies across all environments.
  • Leads and mentors a team of network engineers, promoting collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. Manages performance and offers coaching and feedback to encourage professional development within a supportive work culture.
  • Coordinates the implementation of all aspects of network infrastructure, providing senior-level troubleshooting of ongoing problems. Coordinates the appropriate resources to attain timely resolutions.
  • Reviews system requirements and business processes to design and implement solutions. Develops performance monitoring solutions and recommends actions to maintain acceptable performance levels.
  • Documents and maintains current network architectures and services. Collaborates with internal and external technical teams to ensure that association networking solutions are secure, reliable, and effective in meeting organizational needs.
  • Manages department objectives, budgets, and financial operations, including cost optimization and expense forecasting.
  • Serves as an expert consultant to business lines and clubs to analyze needs and recommend integrated solutions.
  • Develops processes, procedures, and documentation to ensure networking solutions meet organizational needs and are highly available for all dependent systems.
  • Manages vendor relationships for technology partners and solutions providers.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics:
 
  • Strong knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP), security standards (SSL/TLS, SSH), load balancing/clustering, and AD/LDAP integration.
  • Proven ability to architect solutions for applications and infrastructure in on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Hands-on experience with monitoring tools (Nagios, Dynatrace, SolarWinds), logging (Splunk), and backup systems.
  • Detailed knowledge of networking technologies, including Checkpoint Firewalls, Brocade Switches, Aruba Wireless Infrastructure, ClearPass Controllers (802.1X authentication solutions), Cisco Virtual Private Networking, IP Control DHCP appliances, VLAN configuration, BGP Configuration and Operation
  • Creates an environment of belonging where all team members feel safe and valued. Fosters a spirit of teamwork and unity that allows for disagreement over ideas, conflict, and expeditious conflict resolution.
  • Sets well-defined objectives and measures that align with the association and business line vision and strategy.

Education, Experience, & Certifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
  • Six (6) to eight (8) years’ experience in the integration of network and internet systems configuration and management. Project management experience.
  • Relevant industry certifications Cisco (CCNP, CCIE), Checkpoint (CCSE, CCSM), etc. strongly preferred.

 Hiring Range: $109,700 - $138,220

This position is also eligible for participation in AAA, Inc.'s Annual Incentive Plan.
