In this role, you will be the trusted Subject Matter Expert (SME) for our clients, responsible for designing, architecting, and deploying complex network security solutions based predominantly on the Fortinet ecosystem.
  • Unlike a traditional internal network engineer, this role is project-driven. You will engage with various organizations across different industries, assessing their unique networking and security needs, and delivering robust architectures utilizing FortiGate firewalls, core routing, and switching technologies. The ideal candidate blends deep Fortinet technical expertise with strong consulting acumen and project management skills.

Role & Responsibilities

Client Consulting & Architecture:

  • Needs Assessment: Conduct comprehensive network and security assessments for clients to identify vulnerabilities, bottlenecks, and areas for architectural improvement.
  • Solution Design: Architect customized network security solutions heavily leveraging Fortinet technologies (FortiGate, Forti Switch, Forti AP) that align with client business objectives and compliance requirements.
  • Project Implementation & Engineering (Fortinet Focus)
  • Deployment & Migration: Lead the end-to-end implementation of Fortinet solutions for clients, including new deployments, hardware refreshes, and migrating legacy firewall environments (e.g., Cisco, Palo Alto, SonicWall) to FortiGate using tools like Forti Converter.
  • Ecosystem Configuration: Deploy and configure Forti Manager and Forti Analyzer for centralized management, logging, and reporting across client deployments.
  • Advanced Features: Implement Next-Generation Firewall (NGFW) features, Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA), Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), Web Filtering, and Application Control tailored to client security policies.
  • VPN & Secure SD-WAN: Architect and implement complex multi-site IPsec VPNs and Fortinet Secure SD-WAN topologies to optimize client branch connectivity.
  • Core Routing, Switching & Handoff
  • Network Integration: Ensure seamless integration of Fortinet appliances into existing client network infrastructures, including configuring Layer 2/Layer 3 switches and enterprise routers.
  • Routing Protocols: Configure dynamic routing (BGP, OSPF) on FortiGate devices to manage traffic flows within complex client environments.
  • Documentation & Handoff: Produce comprehensive "As-Built" documentation, network diagrams (Visio/Lucidchart), and operational guides. Conduct knowledge transfer and training sessions for the client's internal IT staff upon project completion.
  • Post-Deployment Support: Provide high-level escalation support during the immediate post-implementation phase to ensure stability and client satisfaction.

Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of progressive experience in network and security engineering.
  • 5+ years of extensive, hands-on experience specifically designing, deploying, and migrating Fortinet security solutions (FortiGate, Forti Manager, Forti Analyzer).
  • Proven experience in a consulting, professional services, or client-facing systems integrator role.
  • Experience managing multiple technical projects simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Authoritative knowledge of the Forti OS CLI and GUI.
  • Deep understanding of enterprise routing (BGP, OSPF) and switching principles.
  • Experience with complex firewall migrations from various vendors to Fortinet.
  • Familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform) and deploying virtual FortiGate appliances (FortiGate-VM) is highly desirable.

Certifications:

  • Fortinet Certifications: NSE 4 is required. NSE 7 (Network Security Architect) is highly preferred and expected.
  • Networking Certifications: Cisco CCNP or equivalent vendor certifications are a strong plus to demonstrate foundational network engineering knowledge.

Soft Skills:

  • Exceptional client-facing communication skills, with the ability to confidently present technical concepts to both C-level executives and technical staff.
  • Strong project management abilities, including time management and the ability to meet strict SOW deliverables.
  • Adaptability and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot unique issues across diverse client environments.
  • Willingness to travel to client sites as required.
