Job description

Job Title: Network Engineer

Location: Onsite, American Fork, UT

The Network Engineer is responsible for supporting and maintaining the organization's network infrastructure while providing technical support to end users across multiple business locations. This role combines network administration, infrastructure support, cybersecurity awareness, and Help Desk responsibilities.

The ideal candidate is passionate about technology, customer service, and continuous learning. They will assist with network projects, monitor and maintain IT infrastructure, troubleshoot connectivity issues, provision equipment, and support users with hardware, software, Microsoft 365, and access-related issues. This position provides a career path into advanced networking, cloud infrastructure, and cybersecurity roles.

Essential Functions Include:

  • Assist with the administration, maintenance, and monitoring of LAN, WAN, WLAN, VPN, and internet connectivity services.
  • Support network equipment including switches, routers, wireless access points, and firewalls.
  • Troubleshoot network, wireless, VPN, and connectivity issues.
  • Monitor network performance and availability using network management tools.
  • Assist with network upgrades, migrations, hardware refreshes, and infrastructure projects.
  • Maintain network diagrams, configuration documentation, and standard operating procedures.
  • Support cybersecurity initiatives, vulnerability remediation, and security best practices.
  • Assist with firewall configuration, VPN access, and endpoint security solutions.
  • Collaborate with vendors and service providers to resolve infrastructure issues.
  • Participate in disaster recovery, backup validation, and business continuity activities.
  • Support cloud-based technologies and hybrid infrastructure environments.
  • Help end users resolve technical issues on both Windows and MacOS
  • Troubleshoot basic network and connectivity issues
  • Provision new IT equipment (laptops, monitors, and peripherals)
  • Contribute to the ongoing documentation and improvement of our systems and processes
  • Maintains a clean and organized working environment
  • IT Asset Management by tracking all new inventory and service/repair activity
  • Train end-users in the proper use of technology and software
  • Assist in other projects as needed

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelors or Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Networking, Cybersecurity, or related field; or equivalent work experience.
  • 1-3 years of hands-on experience in Help Desk, Network Support, or related technical roles.
  • Experience supporting Microsoft Windows environments.
  • Basic networking knowledge and troubleshooting experience.
  • CompTIA Network+, Security+, or A+ certifications is a plus.
  • Understanding of TCP/IP networking concepts.
  • Knowledge of DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLANs, routing, and switching fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with wireless networking technologies.
  • Experience supporting Windows 11 and macOS environments.
  • Basic understanding of Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and identity management.
  • Knowledge of hardware troubleshooting and workstation deployment.
  • Familiarity with networking equipment such as Cisco, Ubiquiti, Aruba, Meraki, or similar platforms.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity fundamentals, malware protection, phishing prevention, and endpoint security.
  • Experience with network monitoring, ticketing systems, and asset management tools.
  • Ability to read and maintain network diagrams and technical documentation.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical abilities.
  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

Work Schedule:

This is an hourly position that is typically scheduled Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm. Work hours may vary based on business needs. Occasional overtime may be required, based on business needs.

Approximately 70% of the role focuses on network and infrastructure responsibilities, while 30% supports Help Desk operations and end-user technology needs
