Job description

Job Title: Pharmacy TechnicianJob Description

This role serves as a Pharmacy Floor Technician responsible for accurately picking, labeling, scanning, and preparing prescription medications for final verification by a pharmacist. The position supports daily pharmacy operations by ensuring medications are processed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with all applicable regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Fill daily drug orders accurately and efficiently in a timely manner under the supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Assist in processing returned drugs and recycle or dispose of medications according to established procedures.
  • Prepack frequently ordered medications during low-volume times, including labeling and proper storage.
  • Manually package materials and products as required to support pharmacy operations.
  • Pull and pick medications from shelving units and other medication storage areas, including prepack racks.
  • Apply labels to blister cards and scan products to ensure accuracy prior to pharmacist verification.
  • Alert the pharmacist on duty immediately when any medication or product does not scan properly or appears incorrect.
  • Maintain a clean and organized designated workstation area and replenish all stock supplies as needed.
  • Follow all applicable government regulations, including HIPAA, to protect patient confidentiality and ensure compliance.
  • Adhere to departmental policies regarding safety, attendance, and dress code at all times.
  • Work overtime, holidays, and weekends as required or expected to support pharmacy coverage needs.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support the overall functioning of the pharmacy.

Essential Skills

  • Active and clear Massachusetts Pharmacy Technician License issued by the Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy, with the ability to maintain it in good standing.
  • Previous experience as a pharmacy technician, including familiarity with pharmacy workflows.
  • Data entry skills with the ability to enter prescription and medication information accurately.
  • Experience or exposure to a retail pharmacy environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
