OverviewThe Junior Network Technician assists network staff with daily operations and offers support for various projects. This position involves implementation of network infrastructure (configuration and deployment) as well as day-to-day production support and customer interfacing opportunities.

This is a non-exempt position with an hourly rate of $25.00. This position includes paid sick leave where required by law. Eligibility, accrual, and usage will follow applicable state and local regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize port inventory data to continue Babson’s campus wide wired port reduction initiative.
  • Survey WiFi signal strength using specialized equipment as directed by NEO Staff.
  • Assist NEO staff with scripting and small software projects as directed.
  • Create logical diagrams of network closets using software as directed by NEO staff.
  • Assist NEO staff with configuration, deployment, and installation of network switches.
  • Assist NEO staff with troubleshooting and problem resolution for Tier 2/3 escalations.
  • Adhere to NEO documentation standards when creating MOPs, SOPs, and other work documentation.
  • Assume additional responsibilities as required.

  • Some classes towards a Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Ability to think creatively and solve uncommon issues.
  • Must have strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to embrace ideas and changes created by all community members.  
  • Ability to work independently to solve problems; look for opportunities to take on responsibility; take thoughtful risks; and effectively act on new and ongoing initiatives, objectives, and solutions to gain sought-after results.
  • Ability to anticipate and effectively handle change; demonstrate willingness to try new skills and challenging tasks; and is flexible in changing conditions.
  • Must have strong computer skills including proficiency in Google Drive/Docs and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook/Calendar).

HOW AND WHERE YOU WILL WORK


This is an on-campus position expected to work approximately 35 hours per week September 8th through December 15th, 2026.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS YOU MAY HAVE

Some prior experience within IT a plus.
