Job Summary

Solano County is seeking an accomplished Senior Network Engineer to help guide the design, implementation, security, modernization, and continuous improvement of the County's enterprise networking environment. This is an opportunity to serve as a senior technical engineer and trusted advisor to County leadership, technical teams, business stakeholders, and technology partners while helping ensure secure, resilient, scalable, and high-performing network services that support critical public services.

Key Responsibilities
  • The ideal candidate is an experienced network engineer with broad technical expertise across enterprise network architecture, Cisco routing and switching, wireless networking, firewalls, network security, Zero Trust principles, cloud networking, hybrid connectivity, SD-WAN, network automation, disaster recovery, monitoring, performance analysis, and vendor-delivered network solutions.
  • This role is ideal for someone who enjoys designing solutions, troubleshooting complex technical issues, evaluating new technologies, explaining technical tradeoffs, and recommending practical solutions that balance security, performance, availability, operational supportability, cost, and long-term sustainability.
