Job Description:

We are seeking a talented Network Engineer IV to join our engineering team. This role is vital for the design, integration, and maintenance of advanced tactical and strategic communication networks within the military framework. The successful candidate will possess extensive experience in network engineering and a proven track record of delivering high-quality solutions.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Network Design & Installation: Design, plan, install, integrate, and maintain backbone core-area tactical and strategic communications networks, including elements of the Defense Information Systems Network (DISN) and the Global Information Grid (GIG).
  • Requirements Analysis: Gather requirements from users, Operational Need Statements, and Capability Production Documents (CPD) for Army tactical communications systems, translating them into cost-efficient, standards-based technical solutions.
  • Architecture Development: Develop network architectures for adjacent, higher, and lower units, including interfaces with allied nations, other government agencies, and commercial service providers.
  • Engineering & Integration: Lead the engineering design, development, integration, installation, operation, and maintenance of tactical networks. Provide support for integrating Data/Voice/Video/Telephony within the Tactical Network.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Prepare engineering documentation, assist in the development of technical requirements, specifications, plans, and reports. Conduct independent assessments and provide systems engineering support.
  • Technical Support: Offer technical support in PM TN equipment labs, develop equipment and network configurations, and facilitate technology insertion testing relevant to emerging PM TN Networks requirements and capabilities.
  • Virtualization & Storage Technologies: Utilize knowledge of virtualization and storage technologies, including VMware, EMC, NetApp, Microsoft, Dell, and HP.
  • Cisco Systems Expertise: Demonstrate proficiency with Cisco IOS and NXOS, Cisco ISE, Cisco UCS Networking and Configuration, and Cisco ASA. Utilize routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, RIP, and EIGRP, and possess experience with multicast, LANs, and VLANs.
  • VOIP & Protocol Analysis: Serve as a subject matter expert in VOIP, Cisco Call Manager, Call Manager Express, and Redcom Sigma Core. Conduct network protocol analysis using tools like Sniffer, Wireshark, or similar applications.
  • Field Support & Collaboration: Provide technical expertise at field locations as required and ensure effective collaboration with other teams and stakeholders.

Required Expertise:

  • Military Network Knowledge: Strong understanding of current and future tactical and strategic military communications networks, including architecture, protocols, security, network management, and physics.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with Army Software Baselines and Architectures, and experience working with Microsoft and Active Directory.
  • Analytical Skills: Proven ability to analyze and troubleshoot complex network issues and provide effective technical solutions.
  • Leadership & Teamwork: Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Testing, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of tactical network engineering experience in a military or similar environment.
  • Proven expertise in network design, integration, and troubleshooting.
  • Technical certifications (e.g., Cisco CCNP or similar) are preferred.
