JOB DESCRIPTION
Network Engineer - IT
Department: Information Technology
FLSA Designation: Non-Exempt
PURPOSE
The Network Engineer will be responsible for the availability, performance, and security of Baker Group's and Baker Group's client network systems. This position will assist with design, implementation, maintenance, and support of our growing network systems. Performs related work as required.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The following duties are typical for this job. These are not to be constructed as exclusive or all inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
  • Design and implement OT and IT network architectures that support business operations and technology integration.
  • Collaborate with departments and business units to define requirements and deliver optimal network solutions.
  • Assess current networks and infrastructures and recommend enhancements to improve performance, reliability, and security.
  • Develop network security protocols and policies to protect sensitive data and ensure compliance with industry regulations.
  • Monitor network performance, troubleshoot issues, and provide technical support for network-related problems.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve network designs.
  • Document network architecture, configurations, and processes to ensure knowledge transfer and compliance.
  • Provide training and guidance to IT and OT teams on network management and best practices.
MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in network architecture and design, specifically in OT and IT environments.
  • Strong knowledge of networking protocols, architecture, and technologies (TCP/IP, Ethernet, VLANs, etc.)
  • Experience with network security frameworks and tools (firewalls, intrusion detection systems, etc.).
  • Familiarity with industrial control systems (ICS) and SCADA networks.

MENTAL AND PHYSICAL COMPETENCIES REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Patience and ability to solve complex problems
  • Knowledge of Microsoft operating system/applications
  • Moderate typing skills
  • Advanced understanding of networking hardware and software functionality
ENVIRONMENTAL ADAPTABILITY
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • May have occasional visits to a job site which would require periods of standing, walking and/or climbing stairs
  • Ability to lift/move monitors and PCs up to 100 pounds on occasion
