Job description

Job Title: Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

In this role, you will research, plan, analyze, design, and develop mechanical products such as ammunition handling systems, structures, gun systems, missile launchers, mechanisms, and other devices. You will perform technical analysis, testing, and evaluation of moderately complex engineering problems using specialized equipment and computer programs. Your responsibilities include analyzing and interpreting design specifications, drawings, documents, models, and test results to ensure technical designs comply with applicable engineering standards, military specifications, and product requirements. You will also develop and write technical documentation, make revisions to existing documentation, and provide input to technical papers or presentations, potentially delivering these presentations.

Responsibilities

  • Apply advanced knowledge of engineering and scientific principles to develop innovative solutions to complex technical problems.
  • Provide technical leadership, consultation, or guidance to specialized engineering groups and other technical personnel.
  • Conceptualize, create, and analyze designs to ensure engineering projects meet technical, cost, quality, and performance requirements.
  • Research, write, and present technical presentations to enhance the company's reputation with customers and in the technical community.
  • Initiate and maintain external contacts with key experts and officials of other companies, national labs, academic institutions, and government agencies.
  • Perform technical analysis, testing, calculations, and evaluation of results using specialized equipment or by creating computer programs, models, or simulations.
  • Prepare, present, and defend project technical results and recommendations to customers. Participate in formal technical reviews.
  • Prepare technical and cost portions of proposals related to area of expertise.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant engineering disciplines, industry practices, trends, and applications. Advise management on new developments and programs.
  • Direct the work of intermediate technical personnel.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and ensure compliance with safety objectives and policies.
  • Share responsibility for self-development with immediate supervisor.

Essential Skills

  • Proficiency in Mechanical Design, Pro-E, Mechanical Engineering, Sheet Metal, GD&T, CREO.
  • Experience in structural design and modeling.
  • Must have a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 3+ years using CAD modeling tools such as PTC Pro/e Wildfire and CREO.
  • Minimum of 3+ years in concept and preliminary design experience.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in large structures and large assembly design and modeling, preferably in Military / DOD space.
  • Team player with strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Work Environment

You will work alongside other designers, drafters, and engineers in an office setting. Communication across various functions within the organization is essential. The role includes an orientation in the office, transitioning to a hybrid model requiring 40 hours in the office over a two-week period.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $55.00/hr.
