The Opportunity

The NetworkAdministratoris responsible forthe IT equipment and user services including personal computers (desktops, laptops), computer configuration and operations, network wiring to desktops, internal wireless systems, user network access, and email services.TheNetworkAdministrator works closely with the ITDirectorand the VP of Engineering& Technical Operationsas well asother management staff or service providers in carrying out IT support operations of the Station.

Essential Functions

  • Installs andmaintainsinternal network infrastructure including routers,switches, andfirewalls.
  • Maintains all software upgrades for network equipmentensuringallfirmwarearecomplianttolatest vulnerability standards.
  • Installs, assembles, and configures computers, monitors, network infrastructure and peripherals such as printers, scanners, and related hardware; pulls cables and rewires or directs the rewiring of cables as required for new installations and office reconfiguration.
  • Troubleshootsproblems with computer systems, including troubleshooting hardware and software, e-mail, network, and peripheral equipment problems; makes repairs and corrections if required.
  • Makes hardware and software acquisitionrecommendationsincluding helping users assess computing needs and providing justification for new equipment and services.
  • Assistsin instructing station staff in the use of standard business and administrative software, such as word processing and spreadsheets; provides instruction or documentation whererequired.
  • Assistswith the planning, design, research, and acquisition of new or upgraded hardware and software systems;maintainscurrent knowledge of hardware, software and network technology and recommends modificationstoadministrationas necessary.
  • Assistsengineering with BroadcastNetworkneeds asrequired.
  • Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Skills

  • Ability to analyze problems, research alternative solutions, and implement prompt corrective actions.
  • Proficient knowledge of computer hardware,softwareand peripherals such as servers, monitors, cables, network systems, printers, plotters, wireless routers, wirelessnetworksand smart phone integration.
  • Proficient knowledge of procedures for installing, configuring, upgrading, troubleshooting, and repairing applicable software,hardwareand peripherals; and techniques for explaining technical concepts and procedures to non-technical users.
  • Knowledge of current technology related to station applications, networks andtelecommunicationsand the equipment and softwarerequiredto maximize system support.

Qualifications

Two years of college-level courses in computer science, information technology or a related field, andthreeyears of general computer installation, maintenance, and repair experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job as listed above.
