We are excited for the opportunity to bring aboard highly motivated and energetic individuals to join our teams. Currently, we are seeking a Network Engineer - Intermediate - Secret Cleared. This role supports a Navy customer in San Diego, CA (North Island). Job Description and Responsibilities: Support the design and implementation of network custom software used to monitor, maintain and control network devices. Research, optimize and implement network concepts, including but not limited to Data Flow Capture, RDT&E network environments, Wide Area Network (WAN) optimization, Data-In-Transit (DIT) and Data-At-Rest (DAR) encryption, and Network Monitoring. Document new and advanced networking concepts. The network/system engineer serves as a technical expert to coordinate activities related to information systems projects by analyzing and defining network requirements; defining and maintaining network architecture and infrastructure; configuring and optimizing network servers, hubs, routers, and switches; analyzing network workload; monitoring network capacity and performance; diagnosing and resolving network problems; developing network backup and recovery procedures; installing, testing, maintaining, and upgrading network operating systems software; and/or ensuring the rigorous application of information security/information assurance policies, principles, and practices in the delivery of network services. • Assigned as the point-of-contact for engineering projects in support of the Fleet Readiness Center Southwest (FRCSW)
• Coordinate and review new initiatives and technological trends. • Maintains life cycle management documentation in accordance with DON, NAVAIR, Command, and local standards. • Provide training/instruction, consultation, mentoring, and support services to System Administrators and/or end users.
• Advise on a variety of situations and issues that involve applying or adapting new standards, methods, or practices. Basic and Education Requirements: Bachelors Degree (preferred) in Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Technology + 3 or more years experience. Substitutions include Associates Degree + 2 years additional relevant experience, High School Diploma + 4 years additional relevant experience Preferred Skills and Experience:
• Have mastery of Information Technology (IT) theories, concepts, principles, standards, and methods in network services and enterprise architecture
• Knowledge of routing and switching protocols and network design in a distributed Enterprise, Enterprise Management including network topology and Virtual Private Networks (VPN) and how all are impacted by the organization's strategic direction.
• Knowledge of new and emerging information technologies and/or industry trends in networking sufficient to advise other IT experts ; develop plans and strategies to modify the network infrastructure to support short and long term
• Knowledge of acquisition management policies and procedures and cost-benefit analysis principles and methods utilized at FRC sufficient to evaluate proposals for the acquisition of IT products or services.
• Ability to plan and carry out difficult and complex assignments and develop new methods, approaches, and procedures; conduct analyses and recommend resolution of complex issues affecting the specialty area.
• Ability to evaluate and recommend adoption of new or enhanced approaches to delivering network services and test and optimize the functionality of systems, networks, and data.
