Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client that is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) in Farmington, Hills, MI.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and maintain UI and API automated tests using Playwright and TypeScript
* Expand and enhance automation frameworks by creating reusable fixtures, API clients, utilities, and coding standards
* Build automated coverage for modern web applications and REST APIs
* Integrate and execute automated tests through CI/CD pipelines
* Investigate failures using test traces, application logs, network activity, API responses, and SQL validation
* Validate application processing and backend data using SQL
* Perform exploratory, functional, integration, regression, and risk-based manual testing
* Review requirements and acceptance criteria to identify gaps, edge cases, risks, and testability concerns
* Collaborate with developers, product owners, and other quality team members throughout the development lifecycle
* Participate in code reviews and improve the reliability and maintainability of the automation suite
* Identify flaky, redundant, slow, or low-value tests and address root causes
AI-Assisted Quality Engineering:
SDETs are expected to leverage approved AI capabilities in their daily work to improve speed, coverage, and effectiveness; This includes:
* Generating and refining Playwright TypeScript tests for UI and API scenarios
* Identifying missing scenarios, edge cases, negative paths, and requirement gaps
* Accelerating test-data creation, SQL queries, API requests, and reusable automation components
* Analyzing failures, logs, stack traces, and test execution results
* Refactoring repetitive, flaky, or difficult-to-maintain automation code
* Creating technical documentation, test summaries, and defect details
* Understanding unfamiliar application code and identifying areas of testing risk
* Sharing effective AI-assisted testing practices with other team members
REQUIREMENTS:
* Hands-on experience using Playwright with TypeScript for UI and API automation
* Strong TypeScript programming fundamentals
* Experience designing maintainable automation frameworks-not simply creating test scripts
* Experience testing modern web applications
* Experience testing REST APIs
* Strong understanding of HTTP, REST, JSON, authentication, response validation, and negative API testing
* SQL experience for backend data validation
* Experience executing automated tests through Jenkins or another CI/CD platform
* Experience with Git-based source control and collaborative development workflows
* Ability to diagnose failures across UI, API, database, test code, test data, and environment layers
* Experience with exploratory and manual testing in addition to automation
* Ability to work independently and communicate defects and quality risks clearly
