Job Description:

Cisco Network Engineer   (Onsight)

This open position when filled will be responsible for mentoring and guiding systems engineers with advanced problem resolution skills who are responsible for planning, design, development, optimization, documentation, maintenance, and performance of the Statewide (Wide Area) Core Network.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

·         Installing and configuring large scale Core Network equipment to include Cisco ASR 1000 and 9000- series. Familiarity with Cisco DWDM and Nexus.

·         Implementing disaster recovery plans

·         Knowledge of information technology theory, principles, and practices in Core routing.

·         Working knowledge of computer hardware, software, local and wide area network systems.

·         Knowledge of client/server network protocols and Internet/Intranet applications.

·         Extensive knowledge of troubleshooting data networks and troubleshooting tools.

·         Skill in delivering responsive, quality customer service.

·         Ability to write clear and concise documentation of systems and procedures.

·         Ability to successfully coordinate multiple projects across an enterprise network.

·         Ability to read, understand and apply information from technical manuals

      List of Job Duties

·          Provide technical support at a senior level for Core Network Routing and maintenance. 

·          Provide technical support at a senior level for installation, operation, trouble shooting, and repair of Core network hardware.

·         Coordinate multiple networking projects across multiple agencies at any given time. Installs and decommissions included.

·         Evaluate network systems and determine the need for patches, upgrades, and analyze future technical needs.

·         Develop and maintain procedures and processes, create documentation, and assist clients and other information technology employees.

·         Help Mentor, train and provide ongoing guidance to fellow engineers

·         Standard daytime hours from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, but be ready to fix sudden problems and work flexible hours during planned system updates.

Required:

·         Extensive knowledge of information technology theory, principles, and practices

·         Working knowledge of enterprise network devices is also preferred. 

·         Network certifications are desired. CCNP level required
