Network Administrator
Location: Ashburn, Virginia (On-site)
Role Overview
We are seeking a Network Administrator to provide onsite technical support for a data center and its equipment, ensuring continuous availability. This role involves coordinating, monitoring, administering, and servicing technical environments. The position requires working a night shift schedule of four 10-hour shifts. The successful candidate will perform troubleshooting, manage escalations, and resolve incidents, interfacing with various support teams and vendors to maintain system performance.
Key Responsibilities
  • Perform network and server installation and maintenance, including racking, stacking, cabling, and component replacement.
  • Provide support for data center staging, deployment, logistics, and asset management.
  • Conduct site builds and refreshes, adhering to established quality standards.
  • Execute data center hardware break/fix tasks, including component replacement and troubleshooting.
  • Install enterprise cabling and perform fiber and copper cable testing.
  • Create and maintain rack elevations within a DCIM application (e.g., Nlyte).
  • Maintain inventory control and documentation for systems and components.
  • Troubleshoot, escalate, and report on incidents and problems to ensure resolution.
  • Maintain and configure network and data center equipment to ensure efficient operations.
  • Lift equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
Required Qualifications
Experience:
  • Intermediate experience in a Data Center or IT Operations environment.
  • Experience with software and hardware tools used in data center functions.
  • Familiarity with LAN/WAN topologies, protocols, and standards.
  • Experience with out-of-band management/KVM systems and power distribution units (PDUs).
  • Familiarity with server hardware, components, and network cabling standards.
  • Knowledge of electrical and optical transceivers (SFP+, QSFP+).
  • Familiarity with data center design related to heat dissipation and airflow.

Skills:
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a 24/7 environment, including on-call rotation.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to terminate Cat 6 cabling.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience.
  • Experience and technical training in WAN/LAN communications, including installing and configuring Cisco routers and switches.
  • Advanced skill in diagnosing and troubleshooting IT system issues.
  • Experience presenting technical solutions or recommendations.
