Job description

*Must be located in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. This position is on-site*
As a Network Engineer II, you will be involved in designing, implementing, and maintaining FiberLight's network infrastructure, working collaboratively with senior engineers and cross-functional teams. You will ensure the stability, security, and scalability of our network while gaining exposure to advanced routing protocols, network automation, and Layer 2 technologies. This role provides opportunities to take on increasing responsibility in telecommunications engineering projects.
Key Responsibilities:
β€’ Contribute to the design, implementation, and management of network infrastructures.
β€’ Configure and troubleshoot routing protocols, including BGP, OSPF, and IS-IS.
β€’ Develop and maintain network automation scripts using Python and Ansible.
β€’ Use GitHub for version control and collaboration on network automation projects.
β€’ Conduct network performance analysis and implement optimizations.
β€’ Ensure network security and adherence to industry standards and compliance.
β€’ Document network designs, configurations, and operational procedures.
β€’ Provide guidance and support to junior engineers on technical tasks.
β€’ Help document network configurations, procedures, and basic designs.
Requirements
β€’ 5 years of relevant experience in networking or telecommunications.
β€’ Solid experience with BGP, OSPF, and IS-IS routing protocols.
β€’ Proficiency in Python and Ansible for network automation.
β€’ Experience with GitHub for version control and collaboration.
β€’ Strong understanding of Layer 2 networking technologies, including MPLS and EVPL.
β€’ Proven problem-solving and analytical skills.
β€’ Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
β€’ Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
β€’ Hands-on experience with Cisco, Juniper, and other major network equipment manufacturers.
β€’ Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNP) are a plus.
β€’ Knowledge of network security practices and technologies.
β€’ Familiarity with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP).
β€’ Experience with SDN (Software-Defined Networking) technologies is a plus.
