This collaboration often occurs through agile ceremonies, design reviews, and code walkthroughs, ensuring software aligns with both technical requirements and customer needs. Effective communication and teamwork are essential, as you'll be expected to contribute to solution design, resolve integration challenges, and support end-to-end product delivery. Engaging with peers from diverse backgrounds also provides valuable opportunities for learning and professional growth.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Cisco software engineer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Cisco Software Engineer, you need a strong background in computer science, programming (especially in languages like Python, C/C++, or Java), and networking fundamentals, often supported by a relevant degree. Job description

Hope you are dogin well

Senior Network Engineer (Cisco Enterprise Operations)

Location: Parkland Hospital - 200 Harry Hines Blvd, Dallas, TX 75235

(commutable to the Hospital as the role is on-site, with the chance of hybrid WFH split later.)

Strong Must haves:

  1. * Cisco Software-Defined Access (SDA)
  2. large Cisco enterprise environment experience
  3. Firewall experience
  4. Catalyst Center
  5. ISE - Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE)
  6. * Cisco Nexus data center technologies, including VXLAN/EVPN and Nexus Dashboard (NDFC)
  7. * Cisco Catalyst 9800 Wireless Controllers
  8. Great Communication Skills
  9. commutable to the Hospital as the role is on-site, with the chance of hybrid WFH split later.

Below is the latest from the client to assist in refining the search for the right candidate; In addition to this, the candidate must be commutable to the Hospital as the role is on-site, with the chance of hybrid WFH split later. Candidate must be a good communicator, someone that can carry themselves and represent Parkland Network Services on P1 Network incidents with senior hospital management if needed,

I wanted to provide some additional context on our environment and the type of network engineer we''re looking for. My hope is that this will help narrow the candidate pool and ensure we''re spending time interviewing candidates whose experience more closely aligns with our operational needs.

We''re looking for engineers with hands-on operational experience in large Cisco enterprise environments who can contribute with minimal ramp-up time.

Our current environment includes:

* Cisco Software-Defined Access (SDA)

* Cisco Catalyst Center (DNA Center)

* Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE)

* Cisco Catalyst 9800 Wireless Controllers

* Cisco Catalyst 9130/916x Access Points

* High-density enterprise and healthcare wireless

* Cisco Nexus data center technologies, including VXLAN/EVPN and Nexus Dashboard (NDFC)

* Cisco routing and switching

* Cisco Secure Firewall technologies

* Azure connectivity (ExpressRoute) and hybrid networking

* ServiceNow change, incident, and operational workflows

 From an experience perspective, we''re looking for candidates who can demonstrate real-world operational ownership—not just exposure. Strong candidates should be comfortable discussing topics such as:

 * Troubleshooting Cisco SDA fabrics and Catalyst Center

* Cisco ISE authentication, authorization, profiling, and endpoint onboarding

* Enterprise wireless troubleshooting, RF optimization, roaming, and client performance

* Routing protocols including BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP

* Data center networking using VXLAN/EVPN

* Large-scale Cisco switching and routing

* Incident response and root cause analysis in a production environment

* Working in a 24x7 operational support model with on-call responsibilities

Candidates whose experience is primarily limited to traditional routing and switching, data center deployments, or configuration work—without hands-on experience supporting SDA, Catalyst Center, ISE, and enterprise wireless—typically are not the right fit for this role.

Healthcare experience is certainly a plus, but it isn''t required. What''s most important is experience supporting large, always-on Cisco enterprise environments where uptime, operational excellence, and troubleshooting are critical.

Finally, during your screening process, it would be helpful to verify whether candidates have personally administered and troubleshot these technologies versus simply being exposed to them as part of a larger team. We''re looking for engineers who can explain what they owned, how they solved problems, and what role they played in production support.

I appreciate all of your efforts in helping us find the right candidate. Hopefully, this provides a clearer picture of what success looks like for this position and helps us focus on candidates who are the best fit for our environment.

Regards

Ravi sharma
