Job description

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Network Engineer to join our team in supporting and enhancing secure network and cybersecurity infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in networking protocols and systems, experience with Cisco technologies, and familiarity with Department of Defense (DoD) security practices and equipment. The role will also require expertise in cybersecurity best practices, vulnerability management, and proactive defense strategies to protect sensitive systems and data. This position requires strong problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to network and cybersecurity management. Clearance & Travel Requirements:
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance. An active Top Secret clearance is highly desirable.
- Travel to support domestic and international sites is required. Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain reliable and secure network infrastructures.
- Configure and troubleshoot Cisco network devices and technologies, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Apply and maintain Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) compliance across network and computer equipment.
- Monitor and analyze network performance using industry-standard tools to ensure optimal operation.
- Manage routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, and VLAN configurations (802.1Q).
- Support and maintain Controlled Cryptographic Items (CCI) including Taclanes and vIPer phones.
- Provide support for VPNs, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP configurations, and other essential network services.
- Prepare technical documentation, network diagrams, and system configurations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network issues in a timely and efficient manner.
- Implement and maintain cybersecurity best practices across all networked systems and connected devices.
-Perform vulnerability assessments and remediation in accordance with DoD cybersecurity standards.
- Monitor, detect, and respond to potential cybersecurity incidents using intrusion detection systems (IDS), security information and event management (SIEM) tools, and log analysis.
- Assist in developing and maintaining cybersecurity policies, incident response plans, and security hardening guides.
- Collaborate with IT and cybersecurity teams to enforce risk management frameworks (RMF) and ensure compliance with DoD security requirements.
- Conduct security audits, risk assessments, and penetration testing to identify and mitigate potential threats.
- Travel to customer locations to support setup, maintenance, cybersecurity assessments, and troubleshooting efforts. Qualifications:
- Bachelorโ€™s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- A minimum of three (3) years of related experience in a network engineering role.
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification (or higher) desired.
- Proven experience with Cisco IOS and enterprise-level routing/switching technologies.
- Strong understanding of networking protocols including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPNs.
- Hands-on experience with CCI encryptors such as Taclanes
- Knowledge and experience with DoD network security standards and STIG implementation.
- Proficiency in network monitoring and diagnostic tools.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to work under pressure.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Additional Cisco or network security certifications (e.g., CCNP, CISSP).
- Experience in a DoD or other government IT environment.
