Job description

Responsibilities Seeking an organized, reliable, and driven Network Engineer to work as part of our field service team to install, troubleshoot, and repair data networks at Naval Undersea Warfare (NUWCDIVNPT) in Newport RI. The engineer will work internally as part of organization's IT support team and externally to provide networking solutions for the organization's clients. This position requires on-site work in Newport, Rhode Island. * Install all new hardware, systems, and software for networks
* Install, configure, and maintain network services, equipment and devices
* Configure / software upgrades on routers, switches, and other network hardware
* Plans and supports network and computing infrastructure
* Monitor network performance and troubleshoot problems and outages
* Schedule updates and upgrades
* Documents network problems and resolution for future reference
* Administer, maintain, and troubleshoot Linux-based servers and network services to ensure system reliability, security, and performance.
Qualifications Position Requirements: * BS 5-7 Years, MS 3-5, PhD 0-2
* Ability to prioritize and multi-task
* Possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
* Available to work outside of regular working hours and weekends
* Advance experience with Cisco IOS and deploying Cisco routers/switches
* Minimum two years' experience with computer hardware installation and repair
* Hands-on experiences implementing and administrating network devices - firewalls, routers, VPN and backup applications.
* Experience administering and supporting Linux operating systems (such as Red Hat Enterprise Linux).
* Proficiency with Linux command-line administration, including user management, file systems, networking, package management, and system troubleshooting.
* CompTIA Security+ or CompTIA CASP
* CompTIA Linux+
* Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
* Ability to obtain Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
* Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance with the US government
Additional Skills of interest (not required): * Exposure to Cisco SDA-Fabric environments
* Hands-on with Cisco DNA automation features
* Experience implementing or supporting Cisco ISE policies
* Active Secret security clearance
* Military or government experience preferred but not necessary
