Job description

We are looking for an experienced HR Project Manager to support a contract engagement based in Smithfield, Rhode Island. This Contract position will focus on reviewing payroll and benefits processes, improving accuracy, and helping maintain compliant HR operations for a workforce of approximately 142 employees. The role is well suited for someone who can work independently, coordinate across HR and finance functions, and bring practical knowledge of global payroll environments.
Responsibilities:
• Lead a detailed review of payroll and employee benefits records to identify discrepancies, gaps, and areas for process improvement.
• Oversee HR project activities related to payroll administration, benefits coordination, and documentation accuracy across the employee population.
• Partner with finance and external providers to align employee data with systems such as Rippling, NetSuite, benefits platforms, and retirement plan administration.
• Monitor benefit-related information, including medical coverage and 401(k) records, to help ensure accurate enrollments, deductions, and reporting.
• Support compliance-focused HR practices by maintaining organized records and confirming that payroll and benefits processes follow applicable requirements.
• Provide project-based guidance on employee data management and workflow consistency in support of efficient HR operations.
• Communicate findings, recommendations, and status updates to key stakeholders while helping resolve payroll or benefits issues as they arise.• Proven experience managing HR-related projects with a strong emphasis on payroll, benefits, and process accuracy.
• Working knowledge of HR compliance standards, policy application, and employee record management.
• Experience using HR and business platforms such as Rippling and NetSuite, or comparable systems.
• Familiarity with benefits administration, including medical plans and retirement programs such as 401(k) offerings.
• Understanding of global payroll practices and the considerations involved in supporting an international workforce.
• Strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to manage priorities in a part-time contract setting.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with HR, finance, and external vendors.
