MEP Systems Coordinator
Location: Michigan City, Indiana (Onsite)
Employment Type: Contract
Role Overview
The MEP Systems Coordinator is responsible for ensuring mechanical, electrical, and controls systems are installed, tested, and commissioned to required standards. This role collaborates with project teams during late-stage construction, commissioning, and closeout, with a focus on system performance, documentation accuracy, and operational readiness.
Location & Schedule
The primary location for the first 8 to 9 months is Michigan City, IN, with an onsite requirement of 4 days per week. Following the initial assignment, frequent travel to New Florence, MO will be required.
Key Responsibilities
  • Mechanical (HVAC): Inspect ductwork sealing and piping weld quality. Review inspection reports and pre-startup checklists. Validate testing results, including pipe flushing, pressure testing, and refrigerant charge verification. Confirm equipment settings such as VFD parameters are configured.
  • Electrical & Piping: Inspect piping, electrical rough-ins, and duct-bank installations. Review duct-bank derating calculations. Validate NETA testing results, including injection testing, transformer DGA, and bus duct testing. Verify grounding inspections, breaker and relay settings, and arc flash labeling.
  • Controls & Systems Integration: Verify point-to-point testing as part of L3 startup and checkout. Confirm SCADA, BMS, and PMS telemetry is functional, accurate, and aligned with system graphics.
  • Commissioning & Closeout: Support commissioning activities and review live testing results. Coordinate Integrated Systems Testing (IST) with project stakeholders. Review and validate as-built drawings for final MEP layouts. Confirm final data collection from intelligent electrical devices, VFDs, generators, and trip units.
Required Qualifications
Education: Background in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
Experience: Experience supporting equipment startup, testing, and commissioning.
Technical Skills: Understanding of Building Automation Systems (BAS), SCADA, BMS, and PMS platforms. Ability to review technical documentation, inspection reports, and system data. Willingness to work onsite and travel as project needs evolve.
Compensation & Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00/hr - $80.00/hr. A comprehensive benefits package is available for eligible employees.
