Position Location: Tampa, FL Telework/Work-from-Home Authorized: Yes - When Authorized/Hybrid About the Role: The Tactical Systems Engineer - Mid supports SOCOM tactical C2 capabilities by engineering, deploying, and sustaining TAK server infrastructure and associated applications across NIPR, SIPR, IL6, and cloud-hosted environments. This position directly supports operational stakeholders and integration events and requires strong hands-on experience with Linux and Windows server administration, PKI-enabled systems, ATAK/WinTAK client provisioning, and secure network integration. The engineer will contribute to RHEL lifecycle upgrades, cloud-based TAK deployments, containerized environments, and cross-domain integrations while working closely with senior engineers, infrastructure teams, and cybersecurity personnel. Success in this role requires effective operation within classified DoD environments and adherence to DoD security and RMF compliance standards. * Engineer, deploy, configure, and sustain TAK Server environments (RHEL and Windows Server) across NIPR, SIPR, IL6 (Azure), and AWS infrastructures. * Deploy and support ATAK, WinTAK, and WebTAK clients, including secure device provisioning, TAK data package creation, and certificate management. * Support lifecycle management activities including RHEL upgrades, patching, STIG implementation, and vulnerability remediation. * Assist with containerized TAK deployments and Kubernetes-based architectures under senior technical oversight. * Install, configure, and sustain tactical application servers (e.g., TRAX, FedHub, Compass) across classified and unclassified environments. * Coordinate with Infrastructure and Cybersecurity teams to implement firewall rules, network configurations, and RMF-aligned security controls. * Provide technical support for integration events and operational exercises, including system preparation, cloud deployments, and connectivity troubleshooting. Additional Responsibilities Include, but are not Limited To: * Assist with proposal development, as required. * Perform other duties as assigned. Required Experience: * Experience administering Windows and/or Linux systems within DoD enterprise environments, including SIPRNET and NIPRNET. * Advanced working knowledge of Windows Server (2016/2019/2022) and Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), including system hardening and patch management. * Experience deploying and sustaining TAK Server environments and supporting ATAK/WinTAK tactical mobility platforms. * Experience with PKI-enabled systems, certificate provisioning, and secure communications configuration. * Experience supporting RMF processes, STIG implementation, and DoD cybersecurity compliance requirements. * Experience with virtualization platforms (VMware, ESXi, Hyper-V). * Exposure to Azure (IL6) and/or AWS cloud environments supporting DoD systems. * Ability to develop and modify PowerShell scripts for administrative automation. Desired / Preferred Experience: * Prior experience supporting SOCOM, SOF, or operational DoD mission environments. * Experience with TAK Cloud, hybrid cloud architectures, or cloud-hosted TAK deployments. * Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and Helm charts. * Experience supporting Dev/Test environments and ATO-related activities. * Experience supporting integration events or operational exercises. * Familiarity with tactical data feeds, CoT messaging, or ISR system integration. * Familiarity supporting .NET-based enterprise applications. Education Requirements: * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related technical discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and 7+ years of relevant DoD enterprise systems experience. Certificate, License, and Registration Requirements: * DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+ CE) or ability to obtain within six months of hire. Other Required Skills & Abilities: * Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to interface directly with government stakeholders. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). * Ability to develop cross-domain proficiency across Operations, Intelligence warfighting functions, and Tactical Mission Planning domains to support surge and crisis response requirements.
