Banking, Lending, & Trust (BL&T) is a center of excellence that unlocks access to Wealth & Investment Management (WIM) products and services based on client needs. These products and services include Deposits & Consumer Lending, Banking and Credit Solutions, Private Wealth Portfolio Management, and Trust Services.

About this role:

Wells Fargo's Custom Lending group within WIM BL&T is seeking an experienced Custom Credit Banker to serve as a trusted advisor to highnetworth (HNW) and ultrahighnetworth (UHNW) clients by originating, structuring, and executing sophisticated custom credit solutions tailored to complex client needs. This role manages the endtoend delivery of the full custom loan product suite including specialized and bespoke lending structures while applying strong credit expertise, strategic thinking, and exceptional relationship management and consultative sales skills. The Custom Credit Banker partners closely with the Customer Relationship Group (CRG) to assess client needs, develop customized credit strategies, negotiate and close lending opportunities, and deliver compelling presentations to prospects, centers of influence, and internal partners. The role drives proactive outreach across CRG, senior Custom Credit team members, nonwealth partners, and external prospects to support new business development, while also owning responsibility for loan growth, revenue generation, and portfolio profitability by maintaining deep expertise in custom credit structures, market solutions, and clientfocused lending strategies.

In this role, you will:

  • Actively market custom lending solutions across the Wells Fargo Platform
  • Partner with Financial Advisors to deliver Custom Lending solutions to high net worth clients
  • Structure credit opportunities and negotiate deal terms directly with clients
  • Present to deals to Independent Risk Management, along with underwriting teams, for final approval
  • Assist with recruiting of new Financial Advisors including reviewing credit opportunities within their book of work
  • Act as an advisor to leadership to develop or influence objectives, plans, specifications, resources, and long-term goals for highly complex business and technical needs across groups and functions
  • Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex and unique challenges requiring in-depth evaluation across multiple areas within Wealth Custom Lending functional area


Required Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of Wealth Custom Lending experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education


Desired Qualifications:

  • Proven success in custom credit origination and complex loan structuring for HNW/UHNW clients.
  • Strong credit acumen with demonstrated ability to design bespoke lending solutions.
  • Private Banking, Corporate Banking or Commercial Banking experience
  • Excellent sales and relationship management skills
  • Strong credit risk experience
  • Knowledge of traditional banking products
  • FINRA registration including Series 7 and 66 (or FINRA recognized equivalents)
  • A Master's degree or higher


Job Expectations:

  • US only: Obtaining and/or maintaining appropriate Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) license(s) is required for ongoing employment in this position. FINRA Series 7 and 66 examinations, or equivalent must be completed within either a 90 or 180-day time period following commencement of employment, depending upon the number of license(s) needed if not immediately available to transfer upon hire. FINRA recognized equivalents will be accepted. This will be communicated at time of offer acceptance. Registration for FINRA Series 65 or 66 must be completed prior to conducting Investment Advisory business. Compliance with state law registration and licensing requirements is mandatory. In addition to state registration and licensing requirements, specific product licenses or SAFE licensing may apply. Additional requirements include meeting enhanced financial fitness and criminal background standards. Wells Fargo will initiate the FINRA licensing review process at the time of offer acceptance. For specific FINRA qualification exams obtained after 9/30/2018, the Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) exam co-requisite is required
  • Specific compliance policies may apply regarding outside activities and/or personal investing; affected employees will be expected to provide information to the Wells Fargo Personal Account Dealing Team and abide by applicable policy requirements if hired.
