Job description

Position Summary
Perform or coordinate the preparation and distribution of statistical operating reports and compliance filings for Energy Supply, with various federal and state regulatory agencies, industry groups, analysts, investors, public organizations, and internal management. Review, provide analysis, and interpret new and proposed operational tracking regulations and participate in determining the impact and compliance needs of Energy Supply.
Essential Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the preparation and distribution of external and internal operating reports (ex. NERC, FERC, EIA, DOE, regulators, financial analysts, and markets) for all operating companies, ensuring that reporting and input data are timely and accurate. Ensure compliance with various reporting requirements for such reports.
  • Accountable for the creation and maintenance of the operational related database. Maintain and update reporting documentation. Identify data reporting errors and make corrections necessary for a defendable database. Ensure data is compliant with regulatory definitions of performance and event data.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of statistics and reporting issues. Accountable for the establishment of new processes as needed to support additional or revised regulatory reporting needs. Be the company liaison with internal clients, providing consultative resources to business units within Xcel's Energy about Energy Supply related data, and it's impact due to proposed reporting requirements.
  • Direct and execute various special projects for senior management and perform analysis of the data and provide feedback as to the implication to the corporate/business unit strategy, such as Commercial Enterprises modeling support, insurance risk assessments, Investor Relations, rate case support and generation benchmarking studies.
  • Consult with internal and external clients on all aspects of statistical research and competitive analysis. Prioritize client needs, identify solutions, obtain resources to implement projects and provided consulting services leading to proactive strategic and tactical recommendations. Provide expert analysis for internal and external clients on research results.
  • Develop tools and reports to facilitate consistent and defendable operations data analysis. Work with the data sources to develop standardized measurements and reports across the regions. Train users to understand and properly use the reporting systems as appropriate.
  • Accountable for maintaining working relationships with internal and external customers, including the DOE, EIA, ISO's, PUC's. Provide data to satisfy requests, yet preserve the confidential and proprietary nature of such data.


Minimum Requirements
Bachelors degree in mathematics, economics, business, engineering, or equivalent experience (8 years related work experience equal to four years college).

Six to eight years related experience.

Strong communication and presentation skills.

Proficient with the use of MS/Office suite products.

Preferred

Proficiency with data analytics tools such as Microsoft Excel, Python, Java, VBA, SQL, and PowerBI.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Experience manipulating large databases and data visualization techniques.
