Job Description:
Salary based upon experience, plus an additional $3.00/hour facility differential for hours worked.
The Nebraska Department of Correctional Services (NDCS) employs nearly 2,300 team members operating nine institutions statewide, which house approximately 5,800 inmates. The department's focus includes inmate programming and education, physical and behavioral health care, re-entry services, and community programs, and is accredited by the American Correctional Association (ACA). Candidates will model the NDCS values of integrity, respect, compassion, growth, and excellence as we accomplish our mission, "Keep people safe." Duties:
*Conduct periodic exams of inmate's teeth, gingiva and oral mucous for infections and diseases, and prepare charts for same.
*Diagnose diseases and lesions, take X-rays and prepare study models as necessary.
*Provide restorative dentistry.
*Conduct oral surgery through the administration of anesthesia and the extraction of teeth by incision, excision and extirpation.
*Administer drugs orally, topically, by injection and/or prescription.
Requirements/ Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Degree in Dentistry, plus licensed to practice Dentistry in Nebraska.
Other: Must submit to background security check. Applicants accepting a job offer must pass the pre-employment medical exam and a drug test. Once at the Staff Training Academy, must successfully complete the fully paid Nebraska Department of Correctional Services Training Program.
