The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for performing incoming, in-process, and final inspections to ensure materials, components, and finished equipment meet engineering drawings, customer specifications, and company quality standards. This role supports the manufacturing of engineered-to-order capital equipment in compliance with ISO 9001, ASME Section VIII, and other applicable industry codes and standards.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, fabrication drawings, weld symbols, GD&T, and Bills of Material
  • Generate and process Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for nonconforming materials and products, ensuring proper documentation and disposition
  • Use precision measurement and test equipment to make accurate measurements
  • Respond quickly to production and engineering requests for inspection
  • Work closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Purchasing, and Quality personnel to investigate quality issues and support corrective actions
  • Efficient communicator who is comfortable working with email and ERP systems for documentation of inspections
  • Inspect welded assemblies for compliance with AWS and ASME code requirements, approved weld procedures, and engineering specifications
  • Perform dimensional inspections of machined and fabricated components
  • Perform electric control panel inspections for proper operations
  • Verify proper identification, labeling, and traceability of materials and components throughout the manufacturing process
  • Participate and support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce defects and improve manufacturing processes

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineer, Quality or related field
  • 7+ years of QA/QC experience in a capital equipment manufacturing environment
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in manufacturing
  • Experience with large complex capital equipment
  • Experience with welding inspection
  • Minium of 30% travel to customer sites
  • Hands-on manufacturing experience, particularly in welding or machine shop

Preferred Qualifications

  • CWI certification
  • Knowledgeable in welding, NDT, AWS/ASME codes
  • Experience with welding inspection/CWI certification
  • Certified or experience in ISO 9001 auditing
