Job description

Looking for a career, not just a job? Penn Testing has an opportunity available for a NDT Assistant/Apprentice that would work out of our Schnecksville (5 miles from Allentown) location.

This employee will assist the Technician performing inspections utilizing various NDT techniques seeking corrosion, defects, or detrimental conditions in accordance with specific written criteria. The Assistant may calibrate instruments or perform other duties under the supervision of a certified Technician.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Maintain a safe, secure and healthy environment by adhering to Company/Customer safety standards, alerting others regarding potential hazards or concerns.
  • Assists the Technician on NDT inspections
  • Studies to gain NDT certifications while assisting and learning hands on experience in various NDT methods.

Job Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required
  • An understanding of basic math
  • Ability to work with computers/computerized equipment
  • Ability to read, understand and communicate in English
  • Travel requirement: 0-75%, mostly local
  • Ability to handle chemicals in a safe manner
  • Field duties require indoor and outdoor work in a plant atmosphere
  • May be at more than one job site in a day and must be able to tolerate climate changes
  • May be required to travel out of town on a periodic basis
  • Ability to lift and carry 75 pounds
  • Must be able to walk, climb, do ladder work, may have work in high spaces.
  • Must be able to work overtime, if needed and have a flexible work schedule.
