Job description

NDT Assistant – Alaska Projects

Location: Anchorage or Wasilla, Alaska
Schedule: Project-Based, Full-Time
Work Environment: Field/Industrial
Employment Type: Non-Exempt

Mistras Alaska is seeking an NDT Assistant to support Level II and Level III technicians on projects throughout Alaska. This is a hands-on field position supporting Non-Destructive Testing activities and may involve extended shifts based on project requirements.

This position is limited to candidates who are currently local to Anchorage or Wasilla, Alaska. Non-local candidates will not be considered.

Requirements
  • 40-hour Radiation Safety course is highly preferred.
  • Some prior NDT experience or NDE classroom training is required.
  • NDE classroom hours or experience with methods such as UT, RT, PT, MT, or VT is highly preferred.
  • Candidates without some NDT/NDE experience or training will not be considered.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Current IRRSP or state card is preferred.
  • Current Level I or higher IRATA Rope Access certification is preferred, or willingness to obtain certification.
Job Responsibilities
  • Assist Level II and Level III NDT technicians with inspections and testing activities.
  • Prepare equipment and work areas for NDT examinations.
  • Support NDT activities in accordance with established procedures and safety requirements.
  • Assist with equipment handling, setup, and cleanup.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment.
  • Follow all company, client, safety, and quality requirements.
  • Perform other project-related duties as assigned.
Schedule & Working Conditions
  • Work is project-based, with schedules varying based on project needs.
  • Daily shifts may be 12 hours or longer.
  • Work may primarily be performed in the Anchorage area, with travel to other Alaska project locations as needed.
  • Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions, including subzero temperatures.
  • Must be comfortable working in cramped, confined, and industrial environments.
  • Must be able to routinely lift up to 75 pounds.
