Job description

Neurology Coordinator – NCS Technologist 

  • Serves as leader for all clinical Neurology aspects of the practice ensuring compliance with quality and corporate initiatives.
  • Assists providers with performing EMG and nerve conduction studies on patients.
  • Prepares patients for testing, explains the procedure, and ensures appropriate positioning and comfort.
  • Performs nerve conduction studies within the scope of training and applicable requirements.
  • Operates and maintains EMG/NCS equipment and ensures equipment is functioning properly.
  • Responsible for ordering and maintaining supplies.
  • Accurately documents clinical testing information and patient data.
  • Assists the provider during EMG procedures as needed.
  • Assists with scheduling EMG/NCS procedures and coordinating patient appointments.
  • Verifies that appropriate orders and documentation are available prior to testing.
  • Understands and applies EMG/NCS billing and CPT coding processes.
  • Communicates effectively with providers, clinical staff, patients, and scheduling teams.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality and follows all HIPAA and clinic policies.
  • Maintains a clean, organized, and properly stocked testing area.
  • Follows all applicable safety, infection control, and clinical protocols.
  • Represents clinic in a professional manner by treating all employees and patients in a courteous and cooperative manner. Perpetuates a positive atmosphere to the staff, ensuring patient satisfaction standards are met.
  • Attends required meetings and participates in team and professional development activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Clinical Supervisor Job Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Minimum three years’ orthopedic experience in a clinical setting
  • Must be computer literate and have Electronic Medical Records systems experience (ModMed experience preferred but not required)
  • Ability to multitask in a stressful, deadline-oriented environment
  • Experience with nerve conduction studies, a general understanding of neurology, and familiarity with EMG scheduling, billing, and coding.
  • Certification as an NCS Technologist is preferred but not required.
