Position Summary:
The College of Nursing at Florida Atlantic University is seeking a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in Boca Raton, FL.
The psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner is responsible for managing the mental health care provided by the Florida Atlantic University/Northwest Community Health Alliance/Community Health Center (FAU/NCHA/CHC). The mental health care services are offered at the FAU/NCHA/CHC sites and mobile partner locations in Palm Beach County. The psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner is actively involved as a provider of patient care and in the coordination of patient care in order to ensure the smooth progression of the patient's medical evaluation and treatment. The psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner serves as a preceptor for psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner students enrolled at the FAU Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Serves as a preceptor for students in the psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner concentration while providing mental health care to patients, families and groups across the lifespan in the clinic and mobile health unit settings.
  • Participates in the client's plan of care, interdisciplinary team meetings, mobile health unit committee meetings when necessary.
  • Discusses findings as needed with attending physician, consulting staff, and inter-professional medical service providers.
  • Handles administrative tasks related to role.
  • Travels to different site locations and group homes.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Master's degree from an accredited institution in Nursing and two years of experience required.
Registered Nurse License - Florida Department of Health required.
Valid Driver's License required for travel between clinic sites and group home.
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience in psychiatric assessment, diagnosis, and evidence-based treatment planning for diverse populations across the lifespan in outpatient, community-based, or mobile care environments.
Prior teaching, clinical instruction, or mentorship experience supporting graduate nursing students, with the ability to foster professional development in psychiatric-mental health practice.
Strong collaboration skills with interdisciplinary health teams, including physicians, behavioral health specialists, and community partners, to support integrated patient care delivery.
Proficiency in clinical documentation, regulatory compliance, and patient confidentiality standards, including HIPAA and academic/healthcare organizational policies.
Experience with program coordination, committee participation, and operational support within academic health centers, community clinics, or mobile healthcare services.
Salary:
$85,000 - $100,000 annually.
