Graduate Assistant- Men's Basketball Coach

Job Overview

The University of Dubuque is a growing faith-based University that is seeking a Graduate Assistant- Men's Basketball Coach for the 2026-2027 term, with a potential renewal for 2027-2028.

The University of Dubuque is a NCAA Division III institution and a member of the American Rivers Conference.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Analyze performance and instruct athletes in Men's Basketball techniques and strategies in preparation for and during athletic competitions
  • Assist the head coach in the coordination of administrative areas of program management including, but not limited to, scheduling of competitions and practices, travel plans, and equipment
  • Assist program with all phases of competitive NCAA and ARC compliant recruiting
  • Assist with monitoring academic progress of all student-athletes on the team, in connection with the coaching staff, compliance coordinator and athletic director
  • Execute practice and game planning/evaluation, including video coordination and breakdown
  • Manage equipment usage
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the University's Mission

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree is required and the position is conditional based on acceptance into University of Dubuque Masters' program
  • Working knowledge of NCAA Division III and American Rivers Conference rules and compliance
  • Valid driver's license
  • Flexibility with schedule (ex. evening or weekend commitments)
  • High level of organization and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Synergy Video, Hudl, and other basketball specific programs.
  • Prior coaching experience and/or prior experience as an athlete
  • Effective communication skills; both orally and written
  • Proficiency in graphic design, social media, video, and all relevant software

All graduate tuition is waived for the student for the term in which they serve as a GA. In return for a waiver of tuition, the assistantship recipient agrees to provide service to the University equivalent to twenty (20) hours per week. This position is eligible for a stipend.
