Job Brief:

The PSV Supervisor is responsible for hiring and managing the workflow of PSV technicians.  The Supervisor is responsible for creating and maintaining technician schedules and ensuring adequate coverage is provided based on production needs and deadlines set.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Performs field work and demonstrates the proficient performance of all valve repair procedures.
  • Maintains complete familiarity with testing/setting vapor and liquid valves under NBBIC and company VR manual.
  • Services API/ANSI/other valves per customer and valve specifications.
  • Maintains knowledge of ASME, NBIC, and API codes.
  • Assures that technicians are testing and repairing all spring-operated and pilot operated relief valves including AGCO, Consolidated, Crosby, Farris, Mercer, Taylor, etc. according to requirements.
  • Teaches/mentors apprentice-level employees to become leads.
  • Conducts safety meetings with the work crew.
  • Completes all paperwork and reports as needed.
  • Participation/compliance with company safety programs & company policies.
  • Other duties as required.

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or technical school degree with emphasis in a technical field preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience conducting valve repair, testing, reconditioning, or modification.
  • Experience leading teams of technicians preferred.
  • NBBI “VR” certificate.
  • Proven ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Proven ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of ASME, NBIC and API codes and VR & NBIC regulations.
  • Experience servicing API/ANSI/other valves per customer and valve specifications.
  • Standard First Aid/CPR with AED, OSHA 30, and Safeland, with preference for OSHA500.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug and alcohol test (required for safety-sensitive roles).
  • Completion of a criminal background check, with results assessed based on relevance to the position.
  • Verification of a clean driving record, as defined by Control Tech’s standards (e.g., no major violations, no more than 3 infractions in the past 5 years).
