Job description

Pipefitter/Boilermaker MechanicPBF Energy Inc. (NYSE:PBF) is one of the largest independent refiners in North America, operating, through its subsidiaries, oil refineries and related facilities. We have an opportunity at our Martinez Refinery in California and are seeking a talented PF/Boilermaker Mechanic to join our team as a pivotal member that would play a key role here at PBF Energy.

Performing routine maintenance activities for the refinery such as removal and installation of piping, valving of all types, tubing fabrication, installation, and mechanical equipment repairs. Majority of these tasks will be performed on process equipment used to operate the refinery. Job requires proficiency in piping layout and fabrication for installation of threaded, flanged piping, PVC and tubing. Also requires proficiency in installing blinds in process piping, pump removals, PSV replacements and exchanger component work for maintenance.

Job Responsibilities May Include:

  • Perform bolted flange joint assemblies (BFJA) according to ASME and site standards.
  • Be familiar with the use of torquing equipment for (BFJA). E.g., as RAD Guns, Hy torque and Slim lines.
  • Follow site procedures and/or pipe specifications to identify sizes, types, or related materials. Such as supports, hangers, gaskets, equipment components, etc.
  • Proficiency in Lock out tagout (LOTO) for intrusive mechanical maintenance work. E.g., Installing system blinds, removing system components, etc.
  • Perform hydrostatic testing on piping systems and/or equipment.
  • Exchanger and bundle work. Removing channel heads, installing blinds, removing bundles, hydrotesting bundles, etc.
  • Safely operate hand and power tools such as saws, grinders, impacts, wrenches, pipe threaders, pipe benders, etc.
  • Proficiency in tubing; cutting, bending, threading and installation.
  • Read and/or create pipe system isometric drawings for installation according to specifications and work direction.

    • 4/10 Working Schedule
    • Potential for rotating shift work schedule, including holiday, night, and weekend coverage
    • Participation in callout/standby coverage
    • Occasionally an altered work schedule over an extended period may be required
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Climb ladders
    • Walk up and down steps
  • Work in the Following Conditions:
    • Work at heights
    • Work in compact and confined spaces
    • Work outside in inclement weather
    • Work while wearing a respirator, Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR), or Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA)
  • Possess a valid Driver's License

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 3 years pipefitting/boilermaker/refinery mechanic experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in petrochemical or refinery environment.
  • Journeyman-level abilities.
  • Knowledge of exchanger, piping and tubing.

The Pipefitter/Boilermaker Mechanic position is covered under the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) between the United Steel, Paper and Forestry, Rubber, Manufacturing, Energy, Allied Industrial and Service Workers (USW) International Union AFL-CIO, CLC and the Martinez Refining Company LLC.

The hourly pay rate for this position is $57.54, based on qualification requirements in the CBA.
