International Marketing Lead

Essential Functions and Job/Position Summary

The Director, International Marketing Lead is responsible for developing and leading global marketing strategies that drive fan growth, engagement, and brand affinity across the NBA's international markets. This role serves as a key partner to regional marketing teams, helping to align local market priorities with league-wide objectives while ensuring consistent and effective execution of global initiatives.

The International Marketing Lead will lead cross-functional planning and collaboration across fan engagement, brand, business operations, content, partnerships, events and media. In this role, the Director will deliver integrated campaigns and programs that support business priorities. Through strong partnerships with regional stakeholders, consumer insights, and performance analytics, this leader will identify growth opportunities, optimize marketing investments, and help advance the NBA's global fan agenda.

Major Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead international marketing strategies that support league priorities and drive fan growth, engagement, and brand affinity across key global markets.
  • Partner with regional marketing teams to ensure local market needs, consumer insights, and business priorities are reflected in global planning and campaign development.
  • Lead the development of integrated marketing campaigns, ensuring alignment between global objectives and local market activation.
  • Collaborate with regional teams to adapt and optimize global marketing programs for local audiences while maintaining brand consistency.
  • Leverage consumer research, audience insights, market intelligence, and performance data to inform marketing strategies and identify opportunities for growth.
  • Partner with teams across Global Fan Marketing, Content, Media, Digital, Partnerships, Events and Analytics to develop coordinated marketing plans and fan experiences.
  • Passion for basketball and understanding of the NBA's global fan base is highly preferred
  • Establish campaign objectives, KPIs, and measurement frameworks, providing regular performance reporting and recommendations for optimization.
  • Support annual planning processes, including strategic planning, budgeting, and resource allocation across international markets.
  • Build strong relationships with regional stakeholders and maintain a deep understanding of market dynamics, fan behaviors, and cultural trends.
  • Identify and share best practices across markets to improve effectiveness, drive innovation, and increase operational efficiency.
  • Contribute to the development of marketing processes, workflows, and communication frameworks that improve collaboration and execution across teams.

Required Education/Professional Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, International Business, or a related field preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in marketing, brand strategy, international marketing, growth strategy, or related disciplines.
  • Experience working across multiple international markets and developing marketing programs for global audiences.
  • Sports, entertainment, media, technology, or consumer-facing brand experience preferred.

Required Skills/Knowledge Attributes

  • Experience developing and executing integrated marketing campaigns across multiple markets and audience segments.
  • Strong understanding of international marketing, consumer behavior, cultural nuances, and market dynamics.
  • Proven ability to translate insights and data into actionable marketing strategies and recommendations.

Salary Range:

$165,000 - $185,000
