Project Employee – Data Intelligence Analyst

The NBA currently provides eligible employees the option of working remotely one day per week.

Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Project Employee – Data Intelligence Analyst to join our dynamic team, translating social and digital data into actionable analytical insights that inform strategic decision-making across the organization. This role owns the data value chain relating to social and digital data, including ensuring data quality throughout the data pipeline and producing data products that can be readily adopted by business stakeholders. Partnering closely with our social content team, fan engagement, media, and commercial teams, the analyst works across first- and third-party data sources to deliver clear, practical insights and recommendations to stakeholders with varying levels of data fluency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze data to generate insights that inform strategy, planning, and performance measurement
  • Partner with social content team, fan engagement, media, and commercial teams to define metrics, standardize definitions, and ensure consistent performance tracking
  • Develop and maintain data tracking schedule to fill data gaps across platforms
  • Monitor data and API connections in Fivetran and communicate errors and findings to database solutions team
  • Maintain manual data entry and export/upload process for platforms with API gaps
  • Build, maintain, and evolve dashboards and recurring reporting that track fan engagement, growth, and business performance against core KPIs
  • Conduct ad-hoc, exploratory, and deep-dive analyses
  • Support measurement frameworks, testing, and experimentation (e.g., campaign performance, re-engagement efforts, segmentation effectiveness)
  • Translate data into clear, actionable insights and recommendations for stakeholders with varying levels of data fluency
  • Ensure data quality, accuracy, and proper interpretation across first- and third-party data sources
  • Contribute to the development of scalable analytics assets, documentation, and best practices to improve self-service analytics over time
  • Collaborate on data management projects (e.g. data standardization projects, data mapping)
Must-Haves
  • Strong analytical skills with experience working in SQL and at least one analytics or BI tool (e.g., Tableau, Looker, Power BI)
  • Experience analyzing marketing, fan, customer, or business performance data
  • Ability to connect data insights to business and fan outcomes, not just metrics
  • Comfort working with imperfect or evolving data and making practical recommendations
  • Strong communication and storytelling skills, including presenting insights to non-technical stakeholders
  • Advanced experience working with Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge of social media and digital data a plus
  • Detail oriented data background and exemplary analytical skills
  • Curiosity, critical thinking, and bias toward action
  • Experience collaborating cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment
  • High attention to detail, design, and innovation
  • Passion for data and eagerness to learn new analytics tools and languages
Nice-to-Have
  • Experience using R or Python for advanced analysis, experimentation, or modeling

Salary Range: $3,000 - $3,450 bi-weekly
