Position Summary:
This position is part of the NBA Social & Digital Content team which focuses on identifying, creating, distributing and publishing content to the NBA's social and digital platforms and its many domestic and international partners throughout the world. As the demand for content on the NBA's social platforms continues to grow, this is your opportunity to grow with us in a fast-paced, innovative and collaborative environment, reaching social followers around the world. This is a project employee position.
The ideal candidate is a Reddit expert who knows all the latest trends, how to create content on the platform and fully understands the publishing process. Not only do they understand the Reddit community, but they understand how to speak and write about the game of basketball, the NBA's players and teams and statistics and history around the game while maintaining a brand voice.
Lastly, this candidate has their finger on the pulse of the NBA and spends their free time immersing themselves in podcasts, message boards or consuming short and long form content about the NBA.
Major Responsibilities:
- Provide real-time game coverage by publishing to the NBA's Reddit account by:
- Working closely with content creation team on a daily or nightly basis to identify, create and publish shortform content optimized for Reddit
- Writing copy for posts in lead-up to games, during games and postgame
- Assist with managing the NBA Reddit account page and developing content plans for the account
- Assist with managing additional platform features, such as creating Reddit Ask Me Anything (AMA) and more
- Assist with publishing content to additional NBA social platforms when needed
Required Skills/Knowledge:
Strong understanding of the Reddit platform, the community, the way fans consume NBA content on the platform and platform data features
Understanding of the NBA at an expert level - with strong knowledge of the rules of the game and the storylines surroundings its players, coaches, teams, statistics, standings and history
Watches and consumes NBA basketball content on a daily and nightly basis and understands the league's calendar of events
Understanding of the NBA's social voice
Editorial background in basketball/sports with experience publishing to Reddit or an editorial-based social platform for a sports brand or media organization
Ability to work on deadline and handle multiple tasks at once with an organized and detail-oriented approach in a fast-paced environment
Great communication skills and ability execute detailed feedback
Must be a team player who can work collaboratively
Willingness to work a flexible schedule as this position may include working days, nights, weekends or holidays based on the NBA calendar
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Communications or related field preferred
