Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector is seeking an GNC Engineer (Level 2) or Principal GNC Engineer (Level 3) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in defining the future. This position will be located in Melbourne, FL.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and implement flight software algorithms to support guidance, navigation, and control functions for the air vehicle

  • Design, develop, and implement simulation software to test and verify mission requirements for the air vehicle

  • Navigation functions include the statistical processing of measured data points and their substitution into algorithms simulating physical reality

  • Guidance functions include the formulation of specific equations to achieve a desired position, orientation, or trajectory

  • Control design and analyses processes consist of the development of the control laws and hardware and software requirements for air vehicles

  • Utilize excellent communication skills to report program milestones, technical approaches, and findings to GNC as well as program management

  • General frequent use and application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques. Demonstrates the skill and ability to perform moderately complex professional tasks. Understanding of Guidance, Navigation and Control Systems.

  • Provides solutions to a variety of technical problems of increasing scope and complexity as assigned

  • Discretion/Latitude: Work is reviewed for soundness of technical judgment, overall adequacy and accuracy. Works under general supervision.

  • Contributes to the completion of milestones associated with specific projects. Failure to achieve results or inadequate work product should be detected by supervisory oversight but may cause delay in program schedules and allocation of additional resources

  • Liaison: Primarily internal company contacts. Infrequent inter-organizational and outside customer contacts on routine matters.

This requisition may be filled at an Engineer (Level 2) OR Principal Engineer (Level 3) level based on the qualifications below.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Basic qualifications for a GNC Engineer (Level 2) include a Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and at least 2 years of relevant experience, a Master's Degree in STEM with no years of experience.

  • Basic qualifications for a Principal GNC Engineer (Level 3) include a Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and at least 5 years of relevant experience, a Master's Degree in STEM with 3 years of relevant experience, or a PhD Degree with no experience.

  • Demonstrated understanding of Guidance, Navigation, and Control systems

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret clearance; clearance not required to start employment.

  • Must have the ability to obtain any Program Special access required within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, MS-Project, Visio).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering

  • Demonstrated experience in design, development, and validation of guidance, navigation, and control systems integrating flight critical hardware, software, and algorithms

  • Active US Government Secret clearance

Primary Level Salary Range: $79,300.00 - $118,900.00Secondary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
