Building Substitute
Hop Brook Elementary School



JOB SUMMARY: Immediate opportunity for recently certified Connecticut teachers interested in a hands-on teaching experience as a building substitute. Guaranteed placement for each school day the 2026-2027 school year, guaranteed interview for open teaching positions and primary consideration for long-term substitute needs.
Reports to: Principal
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Maintains the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which assigned.
  • Teaches lesson plan(s) as outlined by the absent teacher.
  • Performs all extra duties for the absent teacher as required by the building principal.
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the interests of students. ย 
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
  • Implements all rules and regulations, polices and administrative guidelines as adopted by the Naugatuck Board of Education.
  • Becomes acquainted with parents; reports any unusual occurrences or events to the principal or designated representative.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and incorporates technology in daily tasks as required.
  • Attend staff meetings, department meetings, report card conferences and faculty meeting as required.
  • Attend in-service professional development when required.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in education or related field required.
  • Valid, grade appropriate Connecticut Teacher Certification required.
