Job description

What You Will Do:
At Independent Software, as a Data Scientist Level 2, you will apply Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Natural Language Processing techniques to analyze and characterize large language datasets. You will develop analytical tools and techniques to support data mining, analysis, and mission-focused research.
This role combines hands-on AI/ML development with the analysis of large and complex language datasets.
Key Responsibilities:
 

  • Apply AI and Machine Learning techniques to large language datasets
  • Use Natural Language Processing (NLP) techniques to analyze and triage language data
  • Develop and support AI/ML tools for data analysis
  • Perform model training and development
  • Develop analytical tools and techniques to support mission requirements
  • Perform data mining to identify patterns, relationships, and relevant information
  • Analyze and characterize large and complex datasets
  • Perform qualitative characterization of mission data
  • Evaluate analytical methods and model performance
  • Document methodologies, analytical processes, and findings
  • Collaborate with technical and mission teams to support operational objectives

Required Skills and Qualifications:
 
  • Experience using and/or developing AI and Machine Learning tools
  • Experience with Machine Learning model training and development
  • Experience with Natural Language Processing (NLP)
  • Experience working with large language datasets
  • Experience developing tools or techniques for data analysis
  • Experience with data mining and analytical techniques
  • Ability to perform qualitative data characterization
  • Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a technical environment

Education and Experience:
Candidates must meet one of the following:
 
  • Bachelor's degree with three (3) years of relevant experience; OR
  • Associate's degree with five (5) years of relevant experience
Degree should be in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Applied Statistics, Machine Learning, Data Science, Operations Research, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
Degrees in Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Physical Sciences, or other scientific disciplines with a strong computational, mathematics, or computer science background may also be considered.
Candidates with other degree disciplines may qualify if they have earned a Data Science certificate from an accredited college or university.
Relevant experience may include machine learning, data science, advanced analytics, statistical analysis, programming, data management, data mining, data modeling, artificial intelligence, or software engineering.
Clearance Requirement:
 
  • Must possess an active TS SCI with appropriate Polygraph to be considered for this role
