Job Summary

Effectively supervise the short and long term operation and maintenance of CenterPoint Energy's Underground Gas Storage and LP Facilities.   Ensure that the facility meets all operational, safety, reliability, regulatory, and financial requirements. Manage required interfaces with Reservoir Engineering and Storage Integrity groups. Manage capital improvement projects at various locations.

Essential Functions
  • Use knowledge of underground storage of natural gas process and equipment to determine appropriate actions need to maintain safety, code compliance, high reliability and availability of the facility. 
  • Supervise facility operations and maintenance to meet all safety and regulatory requirements, including requirements of 49 CFR 192, API 1171, Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission, IN Department of Natural Resources, OSHA, Environmental and other CenterPoint Energy, city and/or state requirements. 
  • Manage CenterPoint Energy's relationships with the facility's regulators including; Indiana Department of Natural Resources, IRUC, local fire, police, and community officials and adjacent neighbors. 
  • Hire and manage consultants and contractors as required. 
  • Supervise and coach station operators and support personnel. 
  • Hire competent staff. 
  • Manage spending against station budgets. 
  • Study and liaise with internal departments and consultants to determine the ongoing behavior and characteristics of the storage reservoir to optimize the production, storage, and long-term health of the gas storage field.
Essential Functions Cont'd
  • Study and liaise with internal departments and consultants to recommend and conduct reservoir analysis such as logging and measurements. 
  • Study and liaise with internal departments and consultants and contractors to manage the interface between the reservoir and the plant output including; wells, well hardware, gathering system, gas processing and compression equipment, and measuring equipment.          
  • Prepare, coordinate with others, approve, and submit required regulatory reporting. 
  • Prepare and conduct and coordinate with others, classroom and on-the-job training of personnel. 
  • Assure qualification of station staff under the CNP Operator Qualification. 
  • Review and update OQ requirements for any station specific tasks. 
  • Plan and execute capital projects for station and field improvements. 
  • Assume call out duties as scheduled in the department and respond to emergency situations as needed. 
  • Provide backup as needed to other department facilities. 
  • Participate in teams and special projects as necessary.
Education Description
  • Associate's Degree Required OR Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Will consider relevant job-related CenterPoint Energy experience for non-degree candidates.
Experience
  • Requires five years professional technical experience in natural gas or equivalent industry.
  • Requires experience working with codes and standards.
  • Requires practical experience working with electrical and mechanical process equipment.
  • Experience in oil and gas industry is desirable.
